Dr. Nottage has been around and made a great contribution to the medical profession in this country. i dont give a sh#t about his politics but i do feel sympathetic about his plight as a bahamian. i hope he gets well and if he has issues, i hope he doesn't let politics take him to his grave.. he is bigger than that IMHO...
we need to have some national pride. i say, f*#k 'em. lets fold up the offshore banking if thats what they want.. everything should not be negotiable. people can find other jobs at bahamar. in any event, the way its been going with these banks, the days are numbered for those jobs anyway .. u agree to this and they will cone witg sonething else.. never mind what you call it, its still blackmail..
it should make any nationalist bristle at the notion that an outside agency will dictate the tax structure of a sovereign nation. its blackmail with the black listing threat. those colonialists cant let go of the past..
well i guess Save the Bays may not be the only foreign entity finding local politics. secondly, if the $$$ were to benefit programs in his constituency, why pau into a overseas account? Thirdly, isn't it illegal for bahamians to have accounts overseas? just curious about these things.. in any case, there is no doubt, as the US Embassy has reported, we clearly have a very corrupt government and system..
this man is a QC so one would expect better, even though it is a political event where he put on this display.. those folks in the UK who receive names for various honours sent by 3rd world governments including ours, need to vet them thoroughly so that the honour system does not fall into disrepute. This display of public demeanor is insulting to fellow QCs i would think.. what a shame.. i guess bible prophecy has to be fulfilled though and certainly what we are seeing and hearing recently supports that we are indeed in the last days...
we have become immuned to what corruption is because it has been a part of government since as far as anybody can remember.. so what others might call corrupt, we consider as 'thats the way it is'... doesn't say much about us as a people unfortunately. mind you we are not alone, the Americans, Koreans, French, etc., are also corrupt, but at least they enforce penalties when revealed. thats where we are lacking...
like all fascist governments, no doubt there are persons employed whose only duties on a daily basis include scouring all the rules, regulations and laws that are never enforced, then use them as a pretense to obtain information they would otherwise have no valid reason to request.
