again Robert 'John the Baptist' Myers is on target. we have been cursed with successive intellectually challenged governments and that is the reason we should not expect any change.. i didn't know waste management was a mystery, but apparently here it is...
its all about profits.. more fees, less service.. use to call themselves the 'helpful bank'. i guess that means help themselves only. shame all of this. pretty soon we will be back to the days of the fly-in bankers like in LI and Inagua. once a week. keep ur money under the bed 6 days, bank 1 day. country going backwards and looks like there is nothing we can do to stop the slide...
competition in theory should moderate the market... however, despite the many banks we have now relative to market size, there is no competition on fees or anything else.. mostly u choose ur bank for convenience, slogan, paint scheme or some other meaningless reason...
nobody will buy this company as it is worthless.. gov't won't close it for reasons to do with national pride. they just put another $100m burden on us for new props for heaven's sake. long story short, bahamasair will go when the IMF and/or World Bank come knocking. Davis' talk about moving toward profit or reducing costs can only be a dream.. almost 43 years and never broke even.. operating costs higher than ever.. forget it...
Robert 'John the Baptist' Myers is doing a vital service crying out about the coming end of the Bahamas as we have known it. problem is, the changes he speaks of can only be implemented by the very group who caused this mess, the gov't. that being so, ensures there will be no action. i totally agree with spending caps and having to come to Parliament and us, the public, anytime you need to exceed the cap a.k.a budget. its the only way to develop fiscal discipline and to trap and destroy the free-spending mentality all prior gov'ts til now had and continue to have.
