well i suppose he is no less worthy than the straw vendors, taxi drivers and preachers who have been in one or the other of the 2 chambers in the past...

Big government .. a fast-track to unservicable debt due the nature of the way gov't makes these decisions...

i wonder if its only me but why is it that whenever a bahamian loses money because a business collapses, the expectation is for taxpayers to make them whole again? i thought in a free market style economy, u are free to make investment decisions and profit OR lose.. its risk that supposedly goes with the reward right? BTW, insurance providers and banks can and do go bellyup just like any other business..

its a shame LBT's comments are filled with such an attitude of superiority and almost like she doesn't give a s*#t what the voters do.. i would expect more engaging and positive comments such as 'i have tried to serve the people of LI to the best of my ability' as opposed to 'i have been a stellar MP'. it gives me the i-am-doing-you-all-a-favour feeling as opposed to 'i am here to serve you all, if you elect me again'... but then again, bahamian politicians do tend to resent the idea that they are accountable to us, the electorate..

one really must question the wisdom of government, through NIB, loaning public social service money to notorious loss-making associated entities and also to prop up failed ones like BOB...

Sheeprunner12 seems I touched a nerve.. My comments are nothing personal toward LI people or for that matter the other inhabitants of MICAL. It's just reality that the SE Bahamas is the dead zone.. Blame all the previous governments who were either intellectually bankrupt or just don't care about all of you..

This all sounds good but the sea opposite the old Bridge Inn restaurant and Stanley Toogood for those who remember that far back, was reclaimed under Pindling and just grew into weeds. This no doubt will suffer the same fate in the course of time. Brethren remember government does not take care of anything..look at Post Office building and Clarence Bain building and the one on the hill on Parliament street next to old Greenshutters restaurant. He'll look at Churchill building sitting opposite parliament no less....

Rollins is only loyal to the interests of Rollins.. As such, he is unsuited to represent anybody but himself. LI people vote emotion at times, so who knows.. Regardless, there is nothing he or Butler-Turner can do for LI as once you move south from Exuma, you are behind Gid's back. That part of the country is doomed to everlasting distress..

Mr. Johnson says a Land Registry system would *'reduce the amount*' lawyers can charge for real estate transactions. Wish to God this could happen. I have twice paid 2.5% for land transaction legal fees only to discover when selling that some legal documents were outstanding from the previous owner which begged the question what did the 2.5% cover in the first place. I don't understand why there is not a flat fee for filling out a form document, which us what a conveyance is at the end of the day. The country is infested with special interest groups like the Bar Association, Real Estate Association and others whose only reason for existence is to fleece the general public.

Socrates says...

wrinkle and co. should not worry too much about being paid.. we have a big talk, deep in debt gov't so if the chinese dont sort things out, we will just borrow another billion or so, pay everyone off and finish the project ourselves...
