I don't think Bahamians are frightened but its the first time in a long time we are putting politics aside and standing up for this country in a collective way. With all our faults and problems in this little country I am pround to say I'm Bahamian. Haitians want say they are proud to be Haitian but doing it in someone elses country. Why not be proud Haitians at home and work together to build something?

She is exactly the reason people get annoyed with illegal immigrants. First thing, there is a US and a Hatian embassy in this country, both are aware of our governments policy. If she wishes she could've easily availed herself of the proper diplomatic channels to get a better understanding of what is going on. Second, this wild threat slinging is unbecoming of any politician. But this appears to be how Haitians role. Shes's no better than the guy in the shanty town. Put a mic in their face and they go mad. But many of the posters are absolutely correct about her neglect to comment on the DR, Haiti's closest neighbour. These folks out of Florida have time and time again found an opportunity to get some media attention at the expense of the Bahamas. Let us ignore them, defend our borders, and do what is right and just. We have been a lenient, passive people for years allowing anything to just go.

If the lady is such a big cheese in government there why not ask the Florida legislature for special consideration to allow Haitians refuge there? Then you would see all hell break loose between the Cubans and Haitians there. You see, both these groups want attention at any cost and the Bahamas has become their punching bag to get it. She should by all means invite herself and let Fred lambaste her.

Well rank on top of rank. Superintendant, chief superindenndent, senior assistant commissner, assistant commissioner, acting superindendant. WTF. The organization is filled to the brim with rank and no performace. It seems like the higher the rank the fatter you become. What they perhaps need to do is to develop a more streamline intelligent force. Promotions in the force should have nothing to do with executive branch of the country. You don't see a Captain in the US army being promoted by a politician. Perhaps the generals are appointed be even they go through congressional hearing and vetting. Promotions on the police or defence force should have nothing to do with politics but all to do with merit and performance of officers.

On Hundreds of police officers promoted

I'm sure Cash knows what one man can do all too well. Mr. Ingraham had them by the short and curlies. Tommy T was the primary fool in Ingraham's sites. One thing I do give Cash is that he recognizes what Wells and Rollins don't and that is how to make good use of the media. Cash is actually more of an opposition than Minnis. He makes better points and just articulates the party position better. Minnis just doesn't make the mark. Wells and Rollins seem to think politics is about being people's friends. There is no friendship in the political game.

I so agree with you SP. why respond to a has been? Just do your thing. I can't take him or Rollins anymore. They talk a lot but nothing major has been done in either man's constituency.

I didn't know men where meant to control their wife. It sounds quite stupid and misplaced in the world we live in. It has nothing to do with being old school. Bahamian men simply want to possess people or things. "Das mines," type attitude. So when their heart gets broken or the woman gets tired of the controlling relationship and attempts to deviate from the norm the dude gets mad. Bahamian guys are too emotional and we are teaching that same erattic emotional behaviour to younger males. So, what does 'discipline' in that questionnaire mean?

Stapedius says...

This exactly why our country goes no where. People don't have any sense of order. Its a free for all type thinking without any sensible data to support theories. The question is where will you dig? What access to journals etc do we as Bahamians have to these studies? Furthermore, do these studies live up to the standard of eithe qualatative or quantatative research and analysis? This is the exact problem with Bahamians, we believe everything we read or hear. No analysis, no perusal just abunch of gossipers and heresayers.

Whats the fuss about? A blind man can see that there is perpetual waste of resources in our public service. The PHA is a chip off of a larger iceberg of unchecked waste in our system of governance. I really don't get why these managers are trying to discredit him. This audit doesn't point blame at one individual or group it simply says that we have a systemic problem within the PHA. There has been a lot of waste or mismanagement of resources. That could be from the executive level down to ancillary services. There is simply too much waste and that is what the report highlights. There is no need to take it personally. Thats our issue in this country, we take everything to heart.

Stapedius says...

This sounds like a flawed survey. How the questions are asked and what questions are asked are important. Then you cannot present empirical data without any margins of error. What is the the hypothesis of this study? There are too many unanswered questions about this academic study which appears to only be partially represented in this article. If COB is going to become a univeristy it has to do better. They should not allow the paper to publish bits and pieces of researched data. It does not tell the whole story of how this study was conducted and by whom. Not all researchers are created equal.

Stapedius says...

Totally agree. I say again that we Bahamians are too personal. We find the most nasty things to say to each other.
