We have some serious problems in our country. In large part it is due to a lack of planning and vision. We could've had trained specialists in many of these areas if simply planned in advance. The other concern is the closed circle which often exists in the Bahamian medical arena. There is a lot that more seasoned doctors can do to encourage people people in certain areas. But no, they'd rather be hogs. All for me baby attitude.
Whats all the anger for John? I am black and I am Bahamian and many people still run on with nonsense about being kept down. And yes we do have too much laziness and corruption in this country. The more we close our eyes to it and pretend that we don't have issues the quicker our decline in standards. Get as riled up as you wish. I''m only stating that our struggle in this country has more to do with corruption, laziness and dishonesty than it has o do with race. So buzz off.
Wow what an overwhelming response to this article. I agree Banker that we have some deep seeded hate for our skin. These are psychological seeds planted long ago that we have not uprooted in our minds. The African diaspora is challenged not because of the slavery in itself but it is the lasting psychological stench which has and continues to poison our view of self. In our country today I cannot make the argument that it is the 'white man' keeping us down. Plain and simple it is corruption and laziness. Yes, we have some race issues and for those who have a problem with people because of their skin colour that's their problem. The world in progressing and we should not be held hostage to our past. Out country right now is for the elite whether they be black or white. This is an economic struggle more than anything right now. I really don't subscribe to this idea of African- American or African Bahamian etc. Its all nonsense. I am a Bahamian and if my neighbor happens to be white or Asian or whatever he is still a Bahamian. That's all I care about. Country first!
There's is plenty of blamed to throw around here. If doctors took control and had better accountability within their own industry a lot of the challenges we see today would not be happening. Too many have just sat back and benefited, content with a broken system because it benefited them personally. Both the current minister of health and the leader of the opposition are a part of the mess. Both physicians who appeared to be content with a messy system with poor service and shabby facilities. We've allowed this thing to fester and it has now become a big headache to clean up.
Why is the PLP being blamed? This is a mess of the FNM'S own making. The Tribune perhaps should've done a better job at researching before coming to print. The article has nothing to do with spin and all to do with people within the party being immature and selfish. Keep your mouths shut and the media will have nothing to report.
If I were him I'd say f%$k it. Too much drama. But I guess that's easy for me to say when I haven't invested the kind of money he has into the project.
It is his right to change party just like all the others. Worrisome though is this constant deck of jokers playing games with our national politics. The thing is we as Bahamians keep putting up with the all nonsense. These guys jumping from plp to fnm and vice versa but our country isn't moving. We need to show them our disdain for all of them and all of the BS. Another party needs to rise and we as a people need to begin protesting and not accepting foolishness.
Brent really is a piece of work. I have a respect for former PM Ingraham because he at least stood for something. I may highly disagree with some of his positions but he had his way. Brent on the other hand is a leech. He has forever ridden on coat tails. First his father and then Ingraham. He should be the last to talk.
