Read the story in today's Tribune about the young women and her efforts to register to vote, and then posit how many anglers are going to pay some times very high charter fees to travel to one of our out islands, only to find that "fishing licenses are coming next week", or "sorry we're on lunch break, come back tomorrow", or "you should have got that in Nassau, we can't issue those here". Total joke.
This is outrageous but one must note that this is not limited to voter registration, but is indicative of the kind of arrogant denial of service one faces getting required government services in general. There is a sense that recourse to some unfathomably complex problem, somewhere, is the first response when one is told after waiting in some interminable line that you need to comeback or go somewhere else. One more total fail by Bahamian government management. They and theirs never wait in line. They and theirs are served at curbside.
Please all pray that LBT has the sense of patriotism that Dr. Minnis and Bran to date could not muster, and that she and Bran, will sit down, work out a deal and save this nation.
Over sized ego? Grandiose sense of entitlement? This is Ours, pray tell me what P.M. who has ever served in this country, did not have both those attributes, to the A-Bomb level. This sounds like typical woman bashing to me. It's OK for our current P.M. and his minions to act like God Almighty and to ignore even a passing glance to democratic principles, but dare a women put her hat in the ring for leadership, and she's a "loud mouth" incompetent. So Dr. Minnis is what, small of ego? Give me a break.
Tal me thinks you are perhaps frightened that the only way the PLP could retain power is sinking into the swamp of corruption and ineptitude your beloved party has inflicted on this sad land. LBT may be able to make a deal with Bran. You and yours will have to face an election with out a divided opposition. If so you will be slaughtered at the poles.
LBT and Bran: Please talk. Please set aside ego. Please recognize that the very survival of the nation is in your hands! Join together and we can end this plague of ineptitude, corruption and folly. Stand alone and we all go down with you.
The only hope for the country is that this revolt is successful and LBT unlike Dr. Minnis, can contain her ego sufficiently to make a deal with Bran. If that happens the PLP is toast. For that reason, I think the celebrating in that quarter may prove to be a bit premature.
What fairy-tale land do you live in Tal? Seriously, war ships to prevent trade? The only naval blockade of Cuba imposed by the U.S. was to prevent the Soviet installation of purely offensive nuclear weapons systems on the island. That is hardly "trade". The Castro brothers actively exported violent revolution to many countries in Latin America. The resultant pain and dislocation is still being imposed. I guess that's OK with you, but the people of Venezuela, Columbia, Chile, and Nicaragua, might strongly disagree.
