hundreds - lol. a few disgruntled PLPs. The vast majority of Bahamians avoided this "protest" to show their support for FNM sound financial policy. Bills gats to pay.
"Protester Charles Higgs agreed that the proposed 12 percent VAT rate is “too much and too tough” for Bahamians, especially due to the large amount of single parent homes in the country."
Aaaaawww - so now suddenly we realize we have single parent homes? When it affects yah wallet?
Isn't Roberts a white man? How can he possibly care about Bahamians? He is obviously up to some scheme to raise VAT to 32% so he can become a millionaire.
It is not surprising that a "sheep" would be afraid of a woman with a backbone, morals, and the courage to fight for what is right. I have always wanted Ms. Martin to be our Prime Minister, but when I hear silly remarks like this I wonder whether Bahamians in general deserve a good prime minister. Racist, sexist, ancient ways of thinking - no wonder Grey told the people to hide in the caves during the hurricane. I guess he felt they would feel right at home, knowing how people like backwardness so much.
Correct about how successive governments have kept us shackled. Preventing the truth from being spoken. Twice Ms. Martin has been suspended from the House and her service as chairman of the PLP was also very short. People cannot handle the truth and don't want anyone standing in the way of their little back room deals they make on the backs of the Bahamian people. Ms. Martin is exactly the kind of leader we need as PM - but Bahamians in general have a kind of backward old-age view of the position of women in society. Go into some of the churches in Nassau and see the silly little circular white things that the women have to wear on their head, and it tells you all you need to know about our views toward women. Marry them and rape them whenever you want - that's the deal we like - even women opposed that amendment.
"Mr Wilson added: "We are trying to find people who own a lot, or ..."
We ALL own lots. They are a part of a few million acres known as crown land that Her Majesty has refused to turn over to the people of this country ever since we were hoodwinked in1973.
