"...said $6.2 million in real property taxes were collected in 2017 from the area that will be..."

How does she know? How can govt know this tiny detail on such a small amount of money, but they can't tell us where over a billion dollars of VAT money has gone.

Hoping she realizes that due to that, nobody believes her - so she may as well be quiet next time. It's simply embarrassing.

Sickened....no this time i was not being sarcastic. This issue is being blown out of proportion.

We have bigger problems at this moment even though the CJ issue is very important. Bear in mind that a new CJ will not reduce Vaseline consumption at HMP - so from a "value of human life" perspective it doesn't matter.

We had yet another demonstration of the devalued nature of human life this past weekend with 5 shootings.

The value is what we put on it. If we put Vaseline on it, then it's only worth $3.79 + VAT.

The Prime Minister is 100% correct on this issue.

If the government was capable of tracking the sources of funds and allocating spefically sourced funds to specific purposes, they could add a 5cents per gallon gas & diesel tax and add that income specifically to nurses salaries.

Few would have a problem with that and it would help ensure that "generator people" pay their fair share of health costs.

However, as VAT as proven, our people at Finance do not have that level of accounting acumen. Still today under a new govt we don't know where our VAT money goes. It was supposed to toward paying foreign debt - but we are told it all just goes into the big Convoluted Fund. :-)

Shut down Ragged Island completely. Make it a defense force base. Give the people free crown land in Eleuthera or Andros or any island they choose. We can't afford to rebuild it. Or maybe ask them if agree to $7 gas and 50cent kwh power for 20 years to repay.

I agree with you if it has anything to do with India. We dont need any more rice eaters in this country. Are we trying to idolize poverty?

We were properly positioned by the Bill itself. It was limited to certain areas where Bahamians could learn and grow into new and exciting tech and finance fields. It would do for the whole Bahamas what Syntex and Borco did for Freeport in the 70's and 80's.

Only problem with it is that Bahamians think they are too smart to need to learn now - cause we got a "university" now. So sad.

The biggest fool is the fool who doesn't know he's a fool.

So funny after oil been pumping offshore now for years...being exported. Just another story to make it seem like the photo evidence of oil rigs off Freeport and Eleuthera and Long Island are all false.

Sand, aragonite, oil all going while we read newspapers and ink fingers at da booth.

If we had real unions in this country that know how to stage a national strike like they do in France we could fight WTO. But it's hard to do with so many drinking HOMOgeneous milk.

If they want it to be a secret registry they just need to model it after the SD plate (rental vehicle) registry.

I challenge any Bahamian to report a crime committed by a person in a SD plate vehicle. You will be told there is no way to identify the rental agency to then request the drivers license of the driver.

This is because most SD plates and taxi plates are owned by people who died before Elvis.

So give the IBC forms to whoever issues SD plates. It will be like the gospel song...

Give your business to Jesus
He won't tell nobody else.
Tell your business to Jesus
He gone keep it to himself.
