Correct about IDB - a bunch of jokers and jesters who can't manage their way out of a paper bag. (They got lots of money though, so that makes them smarter than me by any accepted standard.)
sheep - I enjoy your comments mostly - but this time, maybe you are missing the point? The program was designed not as a giveaway but as a reward program for measurable changes in behaviour such as school attendance, proper child upbringing, and fighting obesity.
The strange thing about the article is it does not say when the program initially began - only that it was canceled in May 2017 by Minnis administration. In fact, it takes care to mention that date twice.
The most likely thing that happened here (as usual) was that both administrations were in on the plan to being the program not long before election and have the new government cancel it - and then blame it on the change of government. Neither party wants a program like this that would truly help Bahamians. Otherwise, some of their slaves might escape the plantation. God forbid that a Bahamian student should have a 90% attendance rate in a public school if coming from an impoverished family.
Foreign companies and entities just need to learn not to begin any kind of program in the Bahamas after a government has been in power for 3 years. Because it means you will only have 2 years to get your program off the ground before it is canceled. (Well, that is if it is a beneficial program - the bad ones can remain forever - as we know too well).
Just wait and see who gets all the free land the PM announced Wed night after the confidence vote. Wait and see. Bahamians been begging for some of Her Majesty's land for decades. You will see who gets it instead. Treasure Cay shanty going strong.
Yes there is a lot of talent in this country that can do great things to make the country better. They will eventually leave and go to another country that wants them, and where they dont have to press 1 for Creole and 2 for English.
Why do they come here to have 7 children and live in poverty? They can do that in Haiti. Remember the man after Hurricane Mathew in Nassau who complained about his house being destroyed and now him and his NINE children have nowhere to live. nine children. nine children in a shanty town? Is this reality? Nobody cares about the lives of those 9 children? Why don't we take ALL Bahamian children and let them live in squalor too? It must be the right way to grown up children. Shut down social services completely. Don't give anybody any money. We don't need it. Just live worse than dogs and be happy. Our new reality.
That's because they haven't been deported. Maybe 5% of the inflow has been returned. You must be blind or have never been near a shanty town, or never seen a Haitian woman walking along the road with her 7 children in one year steps one behind the other, and one in the oven. You must have never visited a public school or a public health facility. You must have never known a Bahamian woman who attempted to give birth in a PMH hallway. Where are you from? Where are you now? Do you live in New Zealand? Or are you from one of those idiotic UN Agencies? You can be sure that if this man is arrested or his followers or any of them are attacked and killed by a machete wielding mob - not one word will emanate from any UN Agency about the event. He could be put in prison forever without trial and nothing would ever be said about it. The US will still continue to allow Bahamians to travel freely to the USA, - nobody will stand up for Bahamians. Nobody. We are the lowest dogs on this planet.
