Meanwhile, the government is showing its contempt toward the poor Bahamians of hurricane ravaged Grand Bahama by allowing a carnival to come into town to scrape up any spare change Bahamians may have found as they cleaned up the debris from their homes.
It is time we recognize that our population is too small to govern itself, and importing Haitians to up the count doesn't help because they don't know how to govern (that's why they are here). We are fully dependent on the USA, and are less than 90 miles from them. It is time we write to the U.N. and request that Great Britain officially abandon us (they have already unofficially), and that the U.S. take us in as the 51st state. What are we waiting for? Or do we just want to remain beggars without benefits forever?
"...Is this really the way we want to be treating officers who have given decades of their life in service to the Bahamian people?.."
So are you saying that the same kind of law enforcement and levels of crime and sloop invasions that we have had for "decades" is what you want to continue? How can you have change with the same people at the top? I am not saying they did anything wrong, I do not know, but if you want to tie the hands of the new government where they cannot make an changes - then what changes do you expect them to accomplish?
The article says ... "We had a productive meeting with the organizers of the Elbow Cay clean-up," said Ms Forbes-Smith. "We took a list of specific items they require and will work with them to ensure their needs are met."
Did she tell them, "Now that we have helped out 95% of the Haitians in Abaco, we are coming to see what you worthless disgusting Bahamians want." ?
That's because the residents of the cays of Abaco are so STUPID to do the clean-up themselves all the while knowing that all the government cleanup money was going to Haitians. They, in my opinion, are therefore complicit in that waste of our money.
If I were Mr. Darville, instead of worrying about all the oil that has already been washed off the leaves by heavy rains and is now likely down into our drinking water table - I would find out the name of the manufacturer of his bed mattress.
It must be a particularly good mattress, to allow him to sleep these many weeks which have passed since his visit to Equinor after which he claimed that he was pleased with the proceedings. He could make a deal with the manufacturer to import these mattresses and sell them here in the Bahamas, in volume, at a good price. He could make a lot of money.
Remember the tree removal was ordered to stop. 700 acres of trees had oil on them, and after only 35 acres of oil covered trees were removed - a stop order came from an as yet unnamed government agency/official. It seems there are secret people giving orders in this country, whose names cannot be found out.
Anyway, it is the Christmas shopping season now. All those on Grand Bahama with money are making their way to Florida to donate it to the Chinese goods distributors over there. Nobody has time to hear about this old news, about which the time to act has long since passed. I also feel sorry for that poor goat who died in the storm.
You are correct. Their inventory control and sales analysis sucks. I have spoken to numerous managers about it, but they just look at me like im crazy. They make up for lost sales and erroneous pricing by simply raising prices. They use the same method govt does at mof, increase taxes and borrow to make up for your shortfall. Never ever go abroad to learn how to do things properly and efficiently, cause we is independent. That's why MHH airport can't use their control tower which was built below FAA minimum height - among MANY examples like it.
