I agree. People paying to much attention to things that do not affect the price of bread, milk, rent, and electricity. These political Parties are very skilled at keeping Bahamians from paying attention to real issues. The prices on them go up month after month, and they just keep dancing Junkanoo like nothing has changed. On the 15th of January we are set to celebrate another stupid holiday. There should be NO celebrations in this country for any reason whatsoever. We have waaaay too many problems.
But the beat will go on, and the dancing will go on. We are well trained slaves, still jumping the broom.
Mr. Bodie - it ain't long now? Not long for what? For PLP to be restored to power? What good would that do to a country who just tossed them out on their butts, only leaving 4 seats? They have suddenly turned into angels (or Saints as you suggest)?
You want to know about fiscal responsibility and where the money gone? Ask the leader of those "saints" you refer to - Mr. "Brave" Davis to please be brave enough to perform his duties as Chairman of the PAC (Public Accounts Committee) - and DEMAND an unveiling of the finances of this government since May 2017. where has the vat money gone which was collected so far under the FNM's reign? Mr. Davis has the power to find out. Why is he not using his power?
Why did it take the resignation of Chipman to even bring attention to this issue? AND why has the issue just as quickly been swept once again under the rug?
Exactly. It is actually illegal to own a satellite receiver outside of the USA. The Coast Guard choppers just ignore these "if" they happen to see them, I'm sure. Who wants to wade into this silly argument. Yes - you cannot legally obtain the service or equipment, and you cannot legally illegally obtain it (of course). So people choose to illegally obtain it. It is exactly like drugs. You can make drugs (or HBO) illegal all day long - people paying money will find people accepting money any day or night of the week. It's too bad people can't concentrate on more important things (like our kids turning into zombies from video games). Kids have near zero attention spans these day. When last have you seen a kid with a book in their hand? We are destroying a whole generation of human beings the world over, but yeah let's worry about HBO's profits.
Good points by Ms Wallace about living alone. I wish more Bahamian females would do that. Batteries are certainly less expensive and less mentally taxing than dealing with most of these so-called men these days.
As far as all the beauty winners being black, that is simply because no judge wants to vote for a white girl and then be accused of being racist.
Why would a NGO pay money to come in and give assistance? If, for example, they did pay $30,000 - how do they intend to get that back and more to make a profit? I did not know they were selling anything or taking in funds of any kind? Or is it that they can they post pictures of them doing things in the Bahamas on their websites and then get donations from their supporters in their home country, which would total more than $30,000 plus their travel and materials costs to make a profit? I guess i"m not understanding the scheme.
Hopefully they paid on those toys the relevant duty and duty on shipping and VAT on that combined duty and shipping and shipping on VAT and duty on the VAT on shipping and VAT on the shipping minus the duty and late fees on any of these that were missec and VAT on those late fees and Customs overtime and VAT on the duty on fees and overtime and duty on those 2 and ...
It's amazing the government allowed the toys in at all. But then i remember that the residents of the Treasure Cay shanty town simply refused to leave and so they are allowed to stay. So these toys are not going to Bahamian children - so of course that's ok.
As always, too many Bahamians don't understand that money circulates. A hotel worker at Port Lucaya may shop on Queen's Highway. Money does not move so simply as your point suggests. That's why the taxi union got rid of the Big Red Boat from Port Lucaya back in 1995. Ignorance. Port Lucaya has not fully recovered since then. I am grateful to this CEO for standing up for Bahamians while the government sits on its hands. It is past time for government to simply take the airport from its owners. Long overdue. This should have been on the agenda prior to being sworn in. They have no plan. Not a word is heard about East End or West End. Govt should obstruct every move by the Port until they agree to remove the clause prohibiting airports in those two townships. What genius added that clause in the first place? Can the Tribune please investigate that and embarass the fool publicly?
Keep dreaming. All international flights would not be stopped. China can come here and build a spy center right across the road from the U.S. Embassy and nothing is done. The Donald won't even appoint an ambasador here since he took office. He has allowed the Senate to play games with Papa Doug. Trust me. The Bah government can do anything with zero consequences. We are slaves who pay VAT and that's that. If you visit the PMH maternity ward, you can see the baby slaves being fed artificial milk.
Maybe for people like you who never travel to the usa, or consume imports from USA, they can have a compromise and let yinna keep Inagua and Mayaguana as independent or yall can let those 2 islands join together under Turks & Caicos. Something has to seriously change though. Our women shouldn't have to sell bread to buy bread.

Which is probably the real reason that those who oppose my plan for U.S. statehood, actually oppose it. The games would have to stop.
