Do you remember the young man the Court kindly set free last year after the Judge noted that he had already served more prison time in remand than he would have served had he been found guilty of the crime? Why did no Q.C. rescue him?

The poor buzzard was probably a 3rd or 4th generation Bahamian, that's why.

Economist....when you say "all people" do you include Bahamian citizens merely accused of a crime but are suffering in "remand" month after month after month after month? Do you take into account the number of ambulance trips to and from that place?

Im sure you do not, like most people. Any Bahamian woman who borns a child in this country today should be immediately arrested for child abuse because that child will suffer much abuse in the next 18 years. Bahamians simply do not count.

For God's sake stop picking on these poor illegal migrants. People should be free to travel and live wherever they wish. Bahamians are able to purchase 5 year residency permits with the right to work in Haiti for only $100 per year, so why do we deny the same right to them here? Fair is fair and i call upon the Haitian government to freeze the issuance of any new permits to Bahamians until justice is done.

While i can understand the theft of water (by meter rigging or otherwise), i simply cannot imagine why anyone would want to steal sewerage.

Davis is correct. I also think we should borrow another $500M from the IDB to spend fixing up the inner cities. We can build a new maternity ward right in the Grove which will pay for itself over time just in ambulance fuel cost savings.

The Bahamian dollar will plunge to 50cents, but that will be good because it will create more jobs for Bahamians since foregners will then be able to hire us at half the minimum wage.

While i agree that's not a nice salary; it is enough to buy Ramen Noodles and really what more do we need or deserve? Vienna Sausage will become a delicacy.

If 10% minimum income tax is required, then simply implement a 10% corporate and personal income tax but at the same time allow a VAT refund quarterly to individuals presenting a spending report. Credit card machines could easily be programmed to allow the swiping of the new NIB smart card to record the purchase amount. Auditors can inspect that businesses don't have more "swipes" than their sales totals....which would simply match their own VAT submissions.

So in effect this would nullify extra income tax payments in accordance with persons spending money in the economy.

Also, do not have any ceiling on income tax like they have with NIB.

Also every 6 months Govt can check out persons who have NIB smart cards but have zero purchases and find out if they are dead or simply working under the table.

It's not as complex as it sounds.

I would be happy to administer its implementation if asked.

While i agree the gentleman should be found and should not be abused - after all he is a human being just like all of us - the sad part of this is where are all of these Amnesty people when Bahamians are being locked up and "ra&&d" every day.

Hopefully PM Minnis will refuse to sign the Act into law unless it passes with the yes vote of every single MP & Senator. If ONE votes no, then simply let it sit on the desk.
