We already have the equivalent of economic sanctions. You don't buy food at the food store eh? Things are very tough my friend.
If the International community wants to punish us for attempting to survive and preserve our culture - so be it. Let them give it their best shot. Bring it on. We will get through it, and save our selves.
Firstly, it is not being done at Christmas time. Only starting in the new year. Secondly, the comment about this being done for 50 years now, should actually bring you some solace because at least now you can rest comfortable in the knowledge that "this" will not go on any longer than 51 years. It should all be over by April of next year. Over. Done.
I agree to do the same thing over and over is insanity. Minnis is not going to do "the same thing." He's going to do what nobody else has had the guts to do, do it humanely, do it right, and do it completely - to the finish line.
Should he fail by end of April - I believe we should then simply open up the borders and even have Bahamasair provide free flights to ALL Caribbean nationals who wish to come to the Bahamas. No passports or any documents required. Just be at the airport when the next Bahamasair land - no money needed - get on and hop off in Nassau - go to Hawkins Hill and get your picture and fingerprint and we give you a Bahamian passport. Non-stop flights for 21 days straight - 3 flights per day - to 7 different airports abroad. We can use all the Bahamasair aircraft - Bahamians can just delay their travel plans within the country and to Florida for 21 days (they will be alright).
Let as many come as wish to come. ;We pay for the plane fuel. We pay the passport fee. We give them national insurance card, and the "yellow bus" can take them from Hawkins directly to Social Services to get their food and rent subsidy check.
Let them ALL come. All from Haiti, Jamaica, Dominica, Guatemala, Peru, everywhere.
At the same time, we can increase vat from 7.5% to 175%. That will allow us to cover the related costs of this new enterprise. $1 can of coke? Will cost $2.75 $300 TV will cost $825. But I'm sure everyone will be happy, cause at least then we will be "humane" and "non-discriminatory".
Finally - (just to be fair) - going forward all Bahamians must simply WAIT at the maternity ward at PMH, if there is a foreigner there getting ready to deliver a baby. Our babies can be born in the hallways. We deserve no better.
I'm sure the NSA has been monitoring it all for many years. If you are not a terrorist or hardened criminal or planning to become one - then you have nothing to worry about.
Accused by who? Witnessed by who? Items found where and when? Why was no public defender lawyer provided to him? Why are the ambulance trips from Fox Hill not reported?
Right. It's not the low salary - it's the NO salary.
Remember a couple years back when the nursing students graduated and then they could no longer get their free lunch meal at PMH because "...they were no longer students." Yet, they were not being paid at all "...because they had not been entered into the payroll system yet." They couldnt even buy lunch.
This went on for months.
Was Duane Sands living in Australia then?
How soon we forget. This was under Ingraham around about 2009.
We treat our own people like dogs.
If they were foreign nurses brought here for a quick intro program and then completed...you can bet your a $$ they would have gotten their lunch.
But if you are a Bahamian you either eat dirt and table scraps or if you make noise you get sent to the Homosexual Rape Center on Fox Hill Road. By the way, how is it the BCC has never heard if this place?
That manager gal from BPL didnt eat no table scraps. $30g per month. Wow. She mussy didnt borned here.
Good ideas - but I think Bahamians would simply prefer to die as a culture and as a people first. We all want to die and give our country to other "needy" people. Hopefully we will still exist in some history books in 2030.
So many seem they will not be satisfied until the Bahamas is completely indistinguishable from Haiti.
What is the point of Haitians coming here to simply live in another Haiti? Why "leave" Haiti to live in Haiti? This nullifies their stated reason "to live a better life."
They can have 17 children just as easily there as they can here. The hospital probably even has more beds in the maternity ward than we do anyway. They won't have to wait in the hallway.
