Bonefish...i must disagree. That plastics company should have been making and recycling plastics for our own bahamian water and juice companies. We need to GET OUT of all kinds of stupid "trade" agreements so that we can tax the Hell out of all kinds of things that are imported when we make them here. At the same time, those industrues must be monitored carefully to ensure they are paying their VAT.

TheMadHatter says...

Govt accounting needs to change from cash to an accrual system so we can see what debts are out there.

Treasury needs to publish ins and outs monthly online for everyone to see.

Why do we always only find out after five years some of the foolishness that the last govt did. Why cant we see the books on THIS govt? They know they have five years to hide anything they want. Just like the previous one.

How much money came into Tressury in July? How much went out. From where and to where? Even the Shadow Minister of Finance has no authority to obtain this info. He can only ask. He can only beg. He has no right to it. He can only shut up and wait for next election.

John...the answer to your question is....because they wont stop having tons of children. Those children, along with those of immigrants, cost money for schooling, medical clinics, subsidized bus transport & the same with mailboat shipping, enforced price controls on food items and fuel - ALL because people refuse to stop having children they cant afford. The rest of us have to pay more and more in taxes to cover their shortfalls.

Govt now talking about expanding pmh delivery ward....to make more unemployed people even easier and more convenient for the ignorants.

The invisible elephant in the room is teenage pregnancy; something the church will not allow anyone to talk about. It will eventually destroy us.

The second most important issue is the cost of electricity. THOSE guys are still walking free without even any threat of jail and, last I heard, talking about some new big-time investment.

I don't know how much Bahamians spend every year on Vaseline - but it must be a tremendous amount. Maybe that spending alone is the greatest fraction of our deficit? Just wondering.

TheMadHatter says...

Maybe Bank of the Bahamas can loan them some money....LOL. Like we dont have enough problems. Morton is not worth saving. We dont produce salt in this country. No salt comes from Inagua in a packaged form from there directly to your grocery shelf. They only rape our natural resource and ship it directly out of the country.

This comment should apply to the entire Bahamas....long before the hurricane. We should all move to Jamaica and live in the mountains in the Rasta camps. A great improvement.

I like the comment above about costs. How much does it cost for all islands? We are now near 7 billion dollars in debt.

TheMadHatter says...

Govt also discourages Bahamians from becoming teachers, doctors, and nurses. They know it is a lot easier to control people and force the to keep "hush hush" when they know their work perits can be revoked and they will be sent back to an even worse Hell than we live in here.

TheMadHatter says...

Agreed. Here in the Bahamas, however, there is no such shame due to our official national motto:

"Bey, I ain' checkin."

TheMadHatter says...

Bahamians need to simply realize that slavery is back (assuming it ever left). The white man has been replaced with the yellow man. This is not a racist statement. It is simply a fact. We can all accept that we are now slaves to the yellow man, and just say "We are happy being slaves to yellow people because it does not matter what color a man is, because we are not racists." Please send any color man to be my slave master, and I will be happy about it, because I am not a racist. I am a happy slave.

Funny how every time there is a run on grocery we focus on the white man, meanwhile the Chinese raking in our money and shipping it to Shanghai. Racism is a powerful thing and the Chinese dead smart.
