Today, I spoke with an expert on the ground in Abaco - and he assured me that things up there are really not that bad, and should be back to normal quite soon. Was very glad to hear that. Nothing beats direct knowledge from people on the ground.
I see. Yes health reasons makes sense. I wasnt concerned about people hiding or even about the immigratiom issue. Just the money. You never hear about government tractors cleaning up anyone else's land. Haitians live here and we live here. Thats fine. We all know that. Im just saying i think it's unfair they get their land cleaned up for free and we dont.
Most countries suffer after a major natural disaster - but the Bahamas? No way. Everywhere you look there is some story about things bigger and better. New this. New that. Free this. Free that. The Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy don't even need to stop on our shores. We good.
Wutchoo meanin the unemployment rate expected to rise in Abaco? I thought the PM just "ordered" all them 250 Bahamians in USA to come home cause they needed to help rebuild the nation. You mean they gah come home and be unemployed??? No way. Gats to be jokin bro. He would not request the USA to provide TPS to those citizens, so they could survive over there. And now they must come home to be unemployed and starve and live in the Thunderdome with Tina Turner? What is this?
I hope they filled out all the requisite Customs forms and paid their VAT and their duty and their VAT on duty and their duty on VAT and their duty and VAT on shipping and their extra shipping fee to ship all that money to the Treasury and don't forget to attach a $10 postage stamp at the top-right of the form. All kinna govt forms dem is need postage stamp. Better put one just to be safe :-)
It's just incredible how since the hurricane - regarding cleanups - all you can hear from government (this is not the first report) is progress on cleanup of shanty towns. Contracts awarded for their cleanup!!! This is insane !!!! Why are we paying to cleanup these towns? Im sure we will know very soon when we see the former residents return and start rebuilding just as before. Government is paving the way (literally) for this to happen. Can govt at least use some of the millions of dollars to buy enough bullets to kill us, the Bahamians? Please. Just get a Court order and kill us all dead. This is obviously not our country anymore and we have nowhere else to go. So put us out of misery. Please and thank you.
You guys are missing the point and making this personal against the speaker. All is just talk and fluff and goes nowhere. Useless. What actions have been taken against the two problems that he brought to light? 1. In the current one, has any MP offered up an amendment to the House rules? 2. In the China thing - what followed was D'Aguilar inviting the Chinese to make a permanent flight route to bring "tourists" to the Bahamas. I didnt hear any rebuke from the press on that. There is no such thing as a Chinese tourist. They are all undercover soldiers for the Chinese Army. So while you lambast the Speaker, these "tourists" will be flying in soon to take over the south-west Bahamas.
It is good to know there were no lay-offs. Good to know nobody was charged to leave the island. Good to know the free document replacement we heard about a month ago was spoken about (even though it is just now tabled in the House). Good to know there are so many foreign volunteers in Abaco working - that we can now afford to charge them work permit fees. So many good things in Abaco you cant count. I bet if i visited there tomorrow, the only thing i might find to complain about is my dry martini may be a bit too sweet (for my taste) and the restaurant might "temporarily" be out of bernaise sauce for the filet mignon.
