Once again my fellow commenters are showing the D+ average at work.
"...The law requires that a communication be laid in Parliament every February. Mr Davis did not explain how Mr Turnquest’s communication failed to apply with the law..."
Well, for one thing, yesterday was not February. The next thing is the man is requesting a debate. Im sure the budget paper does not show how BPL plans to borrow $95M from NIB to buy some wacky 9-stroke generators from Farawayland.
You people seem to relish having an Opposition with duct tape on dey mout - whether FNM or PLP. That is called dictatorship or Monarchy. Perhaps yall secretly long for the pre-independence days. Nostalgia?
Licks - thats exactly what Mr Maynard is planning to do. Call a general strike nation wide, i hope. That's something. Shut it down. Don't let the dog eat ya lunch.
Good idea - but the problem is that the local authorities would have to be accountable to the local citizens and show how much taxes were collected and where from and also show where any monies were spent and how much. This is called accountability.
The local authorities would do an excellent job of keeping track and showing their figures. This would make central government look bad because they dont do this and it would also cause the average beer drinking pot smoking citizen to question why not.
This would then cause the 5 year beer and chicken rallies to cease working and politicians would lose their 20+ year old seats.
Politicians know this and so they will not enact true local government.
Mr Fields makes some excellent points, but i predict that instead of his suggestions Govt will simply add another session of Junkanoo to the annual calendar.
An equity stake? Why use such language to fool the general public? In other words, Shell likely won't pay us back for these stupid incompatible Finnish engines, so we will just "say" on paper that we own a certain percentage of shares in the new Clifton company whenever it becomes incorporated.
Just like the lost 2% shares in bpl. lol
Shell will say too bad too sad for yall. We dont want nothing to do with it.
The Bahamian people have to pay yet again. Get ready for ya beer and chicken rally in 2022. Put em in again.
I can't believe the majority of comments on here are against Mr. Maynard. I am generally against unions but in this case he is right.
Why wasn't this plan discussed with the technical workers before being agreed? Why don't they want to train the workers? Where is the 93 million coming from NOW - i heard they said Shell will pay eventually but who is paying now? Who decided we have 93 million to spare?
The comments on here show how STUPID we are as a nation and how rife black crab syndrome is !!!
Any foreigners can come in here and do any kind of fool and yall not only don't oppose it - but on fact applaud it and attack the man (Maynard) who is trying to stand up for YOU.
No wonder Haitians and Jamaicans are coming here and taking over by the thousands. They see how fool we are (by majority) and won't stand up for our own brothers and sisters.
By a damn generator like they use in Miami and send our people there for training ahead of time. What the Hell do we have to do with Finland? What reason could there be for this except that it's much harder to follow the money across the ocean?
Bahamians get swing and love getting swing. We deserve to be taken over just for being stupid.

Exactly. Just like the nassau cruise port. Supposed to clean up and develop the front street and bay st. - but they want to build the new berth first.
Bahamians always come last. Black rule has done nothing for blacks. We still have house niggers and yard niggers. Very sad.
