Because NOBODY (except that ONE guy in FPO) has been so prosecuted. There is no law against hiring illegals (as Mitchel promised) - companies/businesses are threatened not to hire again or they will be charged with "harbouring illegals". Just threatened though...never charged.
CuriousAbaconian - your point is correct that Abaco received less than what it puts in. Government uses Abaco money for Inagua, and Crooked Island, etc. However, what i'm suggesting is that government pull ALL resources from Abaco - don't pay any teachers, air traffic controllers, police, customs officers, nurses, doctors, road repair, any government worker in the govt complex, nobody - and of course don't pay immigration officers - what we need them for? Send everyone home - or they can relocated to a real Bahamian island. Let Port au Prince pay these employees salaries if they want them to operate in Abaco, or perhaps send up replacement government workers from Haiti and distribute copies of the Haitian Constitution and Haitian laws online and around town - the common ones that Bahamians who choose to stay in Abaco would need to be familiar with. How to properly tie your donkey to a post, etc.
Why do we bother to arrest migrants to Abaco? That island is under the full control of Haitians. You can't do anything in Abaco without permission from the Haitian Pastors Association.
Time to write that island off. Pull all government resources and personnel from Abaco and let them just be run officially from Port au Prince (they already are unofficially - they just using our Treasury money to do it).
Ban ALL European airlines, ships, companies, and persons from visiting or operating here. Lloyds of London underwritten insurance companies, show them the exit door. Sometimes we need the sting of a penicillin shot to ward off disease. It will sting, but we will be healthier in the long run.
If Government is unwilling to implement the above suggested bans, then instead they should ban penicillin and tetanus shots.
