When I read the article, I was sure that it did not go down like that. Just because my common sense would say that officers would not just show up at Atlantis like that without some kind of directive from their supervisor or O/C. Plus, despite what people are saying about police these days, let's give them some credit. I don't think they would have done that on the Atlantis property and in front of tourists. I was waiting for someone who actually was there to come forward and give the real story. Let's give our people some credit.

I love the Commissioner. Lolol He's correct when he said "We have to be very careful. If a person in the Bahamas requests a business license, not from the commissioner and it is duly granted and their fees are paid and they indicate what it is that they are going into business to do, they employ people and they pay their contributions, whatever that business is, the Commissioner has no right to turn up and shut the door. There is no law that gives me that right."

#“However, whatever that business is, if that person allows an illegal activity to take place on his or her premises, I have a right in law to do something about it.

#“But here is my position. No one has the right to tell me what date, and what time and who and how. It cannot happen. It will not happen... that can’t happen. That is an insult to our intelligence and it cannot happen. It cannot happen and the Bahamian public must hear me say it, it cannot happen."

I have never gambled in my life and never plan to. But I think this has a whole lot to do with a lot of folks being so self-righteous and overly holy. I am a Christian and I say if the people want to gamble, they should have a choice. God gave us all the gift of free will. It doesn't mean that all of the decisions we make will be right or good. Some people are sweethearting, fornicating, lying, stealing time and money from their employers but just because this one sin is not the one they are doing, they want to have the loudest voice. It's just like same sex marriage. They could get married a hundred times down here. It's what's recorded in heaven that's an accurate report. It's what God requires of us that will matter. That's their choice to do what they want to do or to do what is right. Whether it's the law or not, God is the ultimate authority.

As for this gambling thing, I see so many religious leaders coming together for an all out war against the numbers houses. I have even heard some of them bash the leader of this country with such venomous indignation and self -righteousness. He is still the leader of the country and should be treated with respect no matter how you feel. But I want to see the religious leaders galvanize themselves in the same manner which they did to address the gambling issue, to put on a same type march in support of stiffer penalities for child rapists i.e. pedophiles - rapists period. There is no way these guys should see the light of day ever again to come out and rape somebody-else's child...case and point: the ugly boy who is on trial now for Marco's murder. They just need to get Life in prison. I'll support a march for stiffer penalities for those monsters.

oooooohh, Hell has a special place reserved for this one who's smiling as he's coming out of court. He has a special room with his name on it. Jail just won't do. He looks like he is too happy in prison. I wonder if he's thinking of the parents of this child while he's showing all of his teeth. A hot mess.

One of these guys surely looks like he could be the son of Flava-Flav... just sayin'. But for real... anyway, I am glad they are caught and hopefully when they apply to the Supreme Court for bail, bail will be denied.

For the record, I am not a police officer. But oh how quickly we say the police murdered or beat this one and that one. We need to take into account how this guy got into custody. Could someone please tell our young Bahamian brothers to firstly, turn their guns into the police; secondly, stop breaking into people's homes and businesses with those same guns and wreaking havoc on society; when the police finally catches up with them, could you tell them to face the music and not try to escape. The police nor society wants them back on the streets to continue to be a threat to us all. When police conduct investigations, they don't arrest suspects to take them for a weekend trip to Atlantis. They are going to jail. We need to be objective about this whole matter. It is not like an off duty police officer was in a fight with this guy over a girl or a gambling debt or something. This guy was in police custody. We need to stop defending these criminals and give the police some support. We, the people, are tired of all the crime. I am sorry the young man lost his life, really I am...but how did he end up in police custody in the first place?

I can't believe you people. Can we leave politics out of this and just get the airport fixed as soon as possible, for once? This incident is extremely unfortunate and it's obvious that there was some negligence on the part of the bahamas government - period - regardless of whose party was in power and when. Mayaguana is not an island that just miraculously appeared out of the ocean five, ten, fifteen or twenty years ago. It was always there and that airport has been there since the Second World War. Why do we always have to put politics in everything? Politicians for far too long have been pushing back projects began by previous governments even if they make sense, just because it wasn't their idea first. Their main duty should always to govern, enact laws and policies, and develop our nation for the benefit of the people who placed them in office. I don't care who came up with a great idea if it will make a positive impact in the lives of the people... just do it. It's time to stop all of this nonsense. The crash wasn't a PLP nor an FNM thing... the Bahamas governmentsss unfortunately dropped the ball on this one. I grieve today for the Collie family and the community of Mayaguana and can't realyy imagine the extent of their pain and anguish but my prayers are with them. Time to move forward and fix the problem and begin the healing process. We can't go back into yesterday and fix all the wrong that we've done, but today and tomorrow always give us a chance to forgive and be forgiven. Healing must begin somewhere.
