Nonsense, rape and violent crime on the whole is on the rise in the Bahamas and everyone that reads the local papers knows this full well. Nothing but murders, stabbings, deadly assaults and rapings are occurring on a daily basis.
The truth is they cannot get violent crime under control and they are not being honest with the public with their "internal" figures. Getting crime down was another empty promise by the government to get votes, nothing more.
Unfortunately the government does not care about how much money and time businesses will have to invest to become VAT compliant and to become UNPAID government tax collectors for them. They also want businesses to hide the VAT tax from everyone so that when Bahamians notice prices have skyrocketed overnight they will blame the businesses instead of the crooks who use the treasury as their personal bank account.
"Questioning why the Government was insisting that all products be re-priced with VAT ‘inclusive pricing’, the Super Value president suggested it was because the administration wanted to “hide” future increases in the tax’s rate."
The "Virtual Warehouse" idea is as foolish as the current stance on expecting tens of millions of products across the country to be repriced in less than 24 hours for January 1st due to VAT inclusive pricing. It will only lead to more confusion, more delays and more revenue lost for everyone.
VAT inclusive pricing needs to be done away with as it is nothing but asinine to assume repricing tens of millions of products can be accomplished in less than 24 hours.
