It appears this Government administration fears the truth.
The truth is hard, sorrowful for many and in stark contrast to our past 50 years of relative peace (ever declining) and prosperity(also declining sharply)
How can anyone Govern with such a fear of the truth, the facts and with such a blatant disregard of the realities of the Dorian aftermath?
Disgraceful in actions and appearances. Delusional.
Unfit.

On EDITORIAL: Still too much confusion

A CZAR? Good grief!
don't we have enough ministers? Cabinet appointments?
Permanent Secretaries? Board appointments?
What use is another Big Chief if they're pulled from the same incompetent pool?
Another big chief means another tribe of useless indians!

"This government has no choice but to be productive."
I disagree: they Aught to be productive but seem incapable (as all have been).
He is correct on the Tribalism, loyalty to party and leader, not country and people, and only until some usurper decides to challenge from within. New Tribe.
In this respect the two parties are no different, with the third bound to follow suit.
We seem to have little understanding of the Parliamentary system as it should operate,
Which basically indicates that no matter the system of Government as constitutionally constituted we will overrun it with Tribalism.

Immigration has raided or targeted a school before, nothing to do with Hurricanes,
and arrested the spouses of documented Foreigners for "Volunteering"
Yep, you need a work permit to Volunteer at any NGO in normal times.
Years ago I saw the disconnect between the civil service and the elected.
When the Elected make no decisions, the P.S's will, and the heads of departments follow blindly.
We have so removed ourselves from General Orders and the intent of the rule of law.
An excellent case example moving through the House and Senate now is the Amendment to the NEMA act.
In total contravention of the Constitution and it's provisions for a Disaster.

On Volunteers’ permits - they should be free

So the "team" of 3 can build one per day, in 4-6 hours, just for the shell.
Not including interiors or plumbing, waste and electrical.
16 teams in best case = 16 shells/day. (16 sets of scaffold needed)
16 days timeline for basic shell assembly.
Plus the interior and hookups.
Think they'll get them all built properly or within a month?

I have seen an example of a relief worker being charged,
and know of one relief worker being "shaken down" for lunch money.(ok, more than that, pocket money)
These people can easily be screened at any time, as can the spouses of documented work permitted people volunteering that also in normal times need a work permit to volunteer at schools, hospitals, libraries, Humane society etc etc which unto itself is ludicrous.
Sure, let them register, let immigration be aware of them volunteering, but to charge them work permits is the height of being ungrateful, of Power abused, of citizens denied these proples efforts.
Immigration aught to beg forgiveness, in person, at all NGO places of operation.
Politely take a roll call and carry your officious asses back to your Relief worker cooked hot Lunch in your Air conditioned offices where you sit and do nothing.
No Shame = no real pride being possible.

On Volunteers’ permits - they should be free

Censorship can be intentional, just as it can be inadvertent based on Government silence.
Silence on the Lack of Progress in Abaco and G.B.
Silence on the Number of deaths.
Silence on the absence of identification of the dead.
Silence on the Immigration policy and roundups (but plenty of xenophobic vitriol)
Silence on the NEMA supplies logjam and difficulties in distribution
Silence on the Senior Defense force shuffle.
Silence from the New Minister of Disaster
Yet he would open his mouth to curtail something that he obviously has let slide for so long if it is even against some archaic rule?
Perhaps IQ testing should be a requisite for appointment or election.

Yay Fred! Minnis and Bethel trying to overturn your injunction in your absence tho.
Typical underhandedness.

Me thinks China is no longer a palatable partner in business given the Speakers blunder
and China's record and strategy in the rest of the 3rd world.
Or was he testing the waters? Trade southern islands for fake Ramen noodles?

Classic, total, complete failure with no solution or objective in sight.
I have said there will be a catastrophic failure within a year, more than likely before that.
But those in charge will not disturb the political quagmire that has created this fiasco.
Heastie contributes more bad management brought over from gbpc.
urca is silent and powerless, preferring to pander to BEC/BPL influence.
This will not end well for the Bahamas.
