And that was Minister Bannisters comment? With responsibility for Works?
Good grief! No wonder we can't get BPL or Alt energy going, he can't deal with a hazardous eyesore!

The_Oracle says...

No policy or legislation setting out what can be done: No Alt energy footprint.
Look at the last go around, yes you can, now you can't and if you did, it must be disconnected!
That is a hell of an incentive isn't it? Does anyone even know where the policy sits now?
Doubtful.
Added to the technical problems that exist, which we will find the hard way if we ever get over the political hurdle.

Since when has Government ever had to "make their case"?
They've been doing what they damn well please and have intentionally not informed or involved the private sector, at least to this point. Furthermore prior administrations have touted their "consultations with private sector stake holders" but one can never find any of them.
On the flip side the Private sector is just finding the time to make noise and learn something?
I swear half the time I think Government and private sector deserve each other!
I love how Winder now wants us to "work together" to achieve membership but omits the cost to the private sector and economy.
Inevitable but it's gonna be painful.

As deplorable as this is, as incompetent and inept as it shows Government to be,
Is this not just grandstanding to get more tax money to waste? Which idiot thinks for one second anything will change? Government and value for money are concepts completely at odds and incompatible, from bidding to procurement across the board.

Dirt, everywhere you look, dirt.
Is there nothing that can be done right in the Bahamas,
Aside fraud and self dealing?

The_Oracle says...

Making new rules or even laws won't change the fact that both parties have in the past ignored or subverted the rules and laws. The jury of popular opinion will one day rule on this group also.
If there is no accountability, there is no rule or law that will be adhered to by any of them, due to either expediency or corrupt favoritism.

"Whilst the battery system can help with night-time load, we will also use it to help stabilise frequency variations caused both by intermittent solar generation and fluctuating loads already on the island."

That is a crock, there is barely any solar generation on island at this time, literally a couple dozen kilowatts at best.Your instability is caused by low speed diesel generation, no turbines, either steam or gas turbines.
That and uncorrected phase angle in your distribution.

And the private sector is still largely asleep! Our successive Government administrations have been signing and committing to all sorts since 2008, even before that, but without real private sector involvement, but They know it all.........

The Black panther first appeared in a fantastic 4 comic book in 1966,
Buy them those instead, teach them to read. It is fantasy and violent, graphic,
not that I agree with the Censorship board who will all watch the movie!
Or buy them all bootleg dvd's and watch it in class.
Such a shame we have no real heroes to emulate, just politically suspect proxies.

That the Successive Government administrations of the Bahamas have dumbed down the general population enough that they need a "minder" is not in dispute, but for that minder to be the Government is ludicrous as they have caused all the problems we have in the first place!
anyone thinking the government can run health care needs a guided tour of bec/bpl, Water and Sewage, the garbage dump, the PMH, Road traffic, hell every single department!
Name one thing they do get right? Anyone?
Anything?
