The reliance on government to provide "jobs" is the first fallacy and failure we have invited and must now suffer.. Politicizing permits, licenses, jobs, schools and teaching, hospitals, Banks! We are only reaping what we have sown.
"Discretion" of Immigration officers, or even Ministers subverts the rule of law allowing for the confusion of damn near everything. Discretion is the gateway "drug" for bribery and favor, and persecution. Most if not all legislation passed since 1992 has clauses for "ministerial" discretion. Get the E-visa category created, get Immigration behavior standardized and not threatening/arbitrary. (for those who wish to work here, but who's work is not connected to the Bahamas.) Toes in the sand, working via laptop, drinking Sands eating out, and paying rent, etc.
Those idiots couldn't care less, as they ain't paying it! Plus, why would the Government "buy" property with money they don't have when I assume if the tax goes unpaid the Government can just seize it? Their funeral but, as is said of the graveyard, "people dying to get in there......"
Stupid is as Stupid does. Not in 50 years have we elected anyone with an original idea or direction for the country. They can only do what they know, a direct result of our D level educational average. Not an overnight event, but a decline started on day one of self Governance. Always amazes me how they think themselves so smart pontificating in the house, but in reality they appear so dumb, to the point of what should be acute National embarrassment. Do we really think they can fix any of our critical national issues? Can't even handle a dump............
Public education on Taxes in general is sadly lacking. The old principal of "Caveat Emptor" has been replaced by complete ignorance, and price control and Consumer affairs. Dumb and Dumber. Is it so hard to create bin labels that show price without, the Vat alone and both combined? Or would 3 number confuse everyone?
Funny that they want to revert to the rules and laws when under pressure but throw them out the window otherwise. Can they even understand the rules? Their behavior says otherwise.
Secrecy is their only cover for desperation. Expediency over substance is the order of the day, It will only hasten the inevitable decline we are experiencing.
Immigration and status has been a political football/weapon since "Belongers" entitled to citizenship were told they were "entitled to apply" (Roker) That first transgression paved the way for the xenophobia of today. I remember the "purges" of foreign teachers, engineers, professionals, some of whom had 20-30 years "invested" in the Bahamas. Fight on Fred, restore the rule of law, reclaim justice from these self appointed post colonial masters.
Unimog is a very top heavy Utility truck type vehicle, Not really suitable for transporting people, especially when the drivers speed around curves and take corners too fast. (witnessed) It may be a unique "tourist ride" but with simple bimini top fabric tops (no roll bars, seat belts) is a recipe for disaster.
