Just goes to show, Minnis may want change, transparency, decent governance without fraud, bribery, but he cannot eliminate gross stupidity.

I disagree with the P.M. on his "necessary restraining role"
Completely wrong: The civil service is lawfully authorized to require the presentation of specified documents pertaining lawfully to the "rubber stamping/furnishing of whatever the citizen is there to obtain. Zero "power" only authority under the law. Same with the arbitrary creation of additional "requirements" "because the Minister said so"
All garbage. Restraint has long since become strangulation.

Foreigners? How about "enticing" all those Bahamians who have left over the last 60 years to come back? I'm told in the tens of thousands. Those who have made their millions and continue to do so, unlike those here who sit on piles of money with little initiative to do anything but covet and guard it. Even the politicians and civil servants who have stolen their wealth can only do what they have been taught by example: amass it, hoard it, guard it. That they should invest it in (God Forbid) their own country runs counter to all they stand for!
Those with their Masters, those at the top of their games internationally. Those who make decisions daily without fear of stepping on political toes or the establishment that presides over the decay. Those who would love to come home, get involved, invest, if it weren't for getting crapped on instantly should they return! The fear of them is real enough.
No, the local game is control, status quo, xenophobia, racism, and any other fictitious rationale for stagnation. The resources expended by both Government and the Private sector to keep things as they are is staggering!

Does he mean a $100k ceiling, or Threshold? Threshold is to be gone over, ceiling is above, over, out of reach.
Two completely different things, no? A minor point perhaps, but important to foster confidence in your capabilities, to get it right!

The problem is not cleaning up the swamp, the problem is the swamp dwellers who have been pillaging for 49 years are scared, and scared rats will bite.
While so far more recent offenders have been targeted, and hopefully can be convicted and jailed, stripped of assets, at what point does one stop? It is that latter point that a thief fears:
losing their ill gotten gains. To be technically correct we should go back to the beginning.
In reality maybe 2-3 administrations?
Yes, odds are some are prepared to kill to protect themselves.

Testing what happens if you let the engines run out of oil?
That is believable. Testing what happens if the control room operators walk away?
Maybe testing patience in Abaco? Definitely!

Meaning a check wasn't cut in time to be considered the primary candidate for ministerial consideration for favorable "in pocket" lubrication!

Another wasted opportunity to "stimulate" the right parties responsible for the morass.

17 days for mail from Nassau to Freeport.......and the Freeport Post Office is in as bad a fix as
Nassau! Broken AC has customers sweating within 3 min, Staff have long since melted!
What is it with these AC units in Government Buildings, particularly Post offices??
Is there nothing we can get right? Does the Government buy new AC units annually but never get them installed where they should be?
Where do they get installed?
