With no foreigners influx left to "tax" Bahamians and their businesses are the next target, the only target left. A race to the bottom is now underway. Business owners have started pulling resources out of their businesses, re-investment halted a while ago. Do not forget the Government gave themselves the authority to debit your accounts for unpaid VAT. How long before they're debiting for whatever else they want, Like Redundancy pay?
This is only the beginning. For every action, particularly onerous ones, there is an equal and opposite reaction. The Government seems intent on squaring off with the private sector, a fight we will all lose in. A fight the Government can least afford.
They must've known full well, as aside withholding documents, (a common practice of those who bring in Jamaicans/Haitians/Barbadians for illicit activities) the Chinese laborers no doubt are not paid according to our labor law minimums, no doubt work in excess of the lawful work week, no doubt are not paid overtime, No doubt do not pay into N.I.B., and won't see any vacation pay or time! Did I miss anything? Ironic how important Slave reparations are to them, while they conduct near slavery themselves.
A classic "play with Puppy, puppy lick ya mout" Public / Private sector agreements and dialog is a farce, lip service. Anything discussed becomes unrecognizable once presented in the house, and another restriction or impediment to economic health. Government does not understand that pillaging the private sector creates a race to the bottom, a dis-incentive to re-investment.
Well Birdie, every time PGC starts feeling "God Like" catastrophe strikes! Aside that he only persons who have benefited from the "Ministry of G.B. is D'arville and all those who have been awarded contracts worth a fraction of the actual money budgeted.
How many gonna get laid off quickly before this takes effect? These politicians must be the stupidest bunch of Village idiots ever to burden the face of the earth, least of all this one time pristine corner of it. Is there nothing they will not crap all over? How can any group of people be so inadvertently dead wrong in any move they make?
Minnis will have nothing but pieces to pick up from the already ruined economy! Sensibility says jump right, The jump left every time! Disgraceful. The end is nigh.
Who will employ them when the private sector is gone? Who can be penalized when they don't exist? What the private sector will realize, is that they will have to pillage their own businesses to keep up with government pillaging, if they are to retain anything out of their efforts and investments. The treasury is apparently not enough for them all, they want everything from everyones pockets.
