No changes were made to the H.C.A since the late 60's, however some tax exemptions expired. Note any changes were made with licensee consent.
Those were re-created by separate legislation in 1993.
Those exemptions have expired, in 20015 actually.
The method by which the Government is attempting to coerce Licensees to sign up to renew them quite frankly stinks, with complete Orwellian aspects.
In that everything Government administrations have done since 1968 have basically killed the places potential, one can only look at this latest garbage with suspicion, if not downright contempt.
It is however a complete reflection of the authors, so not surprising.

RBDF officers have the Chinese Riot Masks to wear, Mainly used (unused so far) for filtering out tear gas!
The Police Ain't been issued those yet, Perry them don't know which side they'll be on!
Overall, yet another sad indictment of our misplaced priorities, money and sense.

they're Chinese, so it isn't as simple as a straight sale.
"Saving Face" and avoiding public failure is more important.
Christie has nothing to give away beyond VAT $$, treasury $$.
Already did that, and it didn't work, the hotel closed as they didn't fix it post Hurricane.
(the reason for giving them $$)

"While an exact location was not disclosed, Minister for Grand Bahama Dr Michael Darville shared some details of a site two and a half miles west of Stat Oil on the north shore."
North Shore? what a joke. Southern shore line where the Cruise line will totally control tourist $$ and activities. Freeport and few in Grand Bahama will benefit.
Maybe a few jobs out east.

More "pie in the Sky" from the weakest party at the table.
Hutchinson Employs more people than the Government, with a net profit figure bigger than the national debt of the whole country!
Exempting them from real property tax for a further 20 years on all their G.B. land holdings in addition to whatever other "give away" you have offered will do nothing for the country.
They can sit out on you til you cannot sweat anymore!

A convoluted piece of legislation that will do neither what Government (on the face of it) says it will do, nor that which it is actually written to do, but might succeed in doing what all governments have tried to do.
The most interesting aspect is the exemptions from non existent taxes.
The Port Silence is still deafening.

An ongoing failure by ALL administrations of which YOU were a part!
To try and stand outside the fiasco pointing your finger inwards reeks of self preservation.
Good God please send us some competent people to unravel the depths of mess and pillaging
that has transpired under all of them!

They can pass all the new laws and regulations they want,
they are pathetic at implementation, intelligent staffing and enforcement!
Can't even abide or enforce the old laws on the books.

All Prime Ministers and Government have attempted to intimidate and persecute opposing
opinions, but this crew has had to deal with a constant onslaught via social media, and rightly so.
Many are too young to remember the Pindling era, but should remember the Hubiggity
years. Many were thrown under his political bus.
One expects this type of deplorable behavior against each other, especially under the protection of the House, but when they attack or persecute ordinary citizens, they show their true tendencies for despotic rule.
We are well into that decline, with the current Government trying to legitimize their strong arming.

But wait, wasn't the Environmental Levy (tax) on imports supposed to be funding Dump remediation?
Or was that for Carnival? I forget,,,,,,

There is nothing that has been done cost effectively, properly or without graft for 50 years.
