Funny how you wouldn't sink your teeth into it all when you were a part of the official opposition, but now you will? But wait, now as the the official opposition I suppose you will? Doubt you'll achieve much.

A Minister once asked me where I sit in church.
I told him around the middle. He said you are one who needs to feel the spirit.
Explaining, he said those who sit up front must see what is going on, those who sit in back need to see if it is thought to be a good thing by those present.
We need more sensible people from the middle to get involved and contribute.
We are too accustomed to griping and decrying but never lifting a finger to fix it.
If every politician has promised the earth and failed to deliver, it is time for new faces, new blood. Same promises, but maybe he will deliver. We know the others did not.
I will say that Minnis is reaching out to people not usually found rushing in for self service.
That alone is a good thing.

Criminal charges aught to be in the headlines.

In the U.S., power companies are trying to push back to get exactly this deal that URCA is handing them on a silver platter. Idiocy.
U.S. legislators and the Alt energy lobby have been successfully pushing the utilities back.
I wish these Government appointed people would make an effort to learn something about the subject before accepting whatever they're told by BPL execs.

The_Oracle says...

Correct Alex, give me profiteering for $4500 ! Net metering is the only viable "kick Start" that will work, and require the least Metering expense to BPL hence consumers.
Grid tied systems are also the least expensive and require no operator input or involvement.
All these other convoluted schemes will again kick Solar to the curb!
Fossil fuel costs are depleting foreign reserves and is draining our economy.
The only question is, do we allow Frankie, BPL and the connected to ride it to the bottom,
or do we reverse the slide?

If anything they have purged the party of the old that have been "part of the problem" candidates, and cleared the way for new fresh and maybe not so entrenched candidates!
Perhaps if there was leadership who will follow thru on the oft repeated Crime, economy, corruption platforms and follow thru, intelligent decent Bahamians may step forward.
How many parties do we need to promise the above problems will be solved but only and deliver themselves to wealth do we need?
As it stands what self respecting decent person would want to be in the same room with any of them, never mind sacrifice their own self respect to run with them?
They also took out the DNA as a viable contender too!
After all, the FNM birthed from the PLP, the DNA birthed from the FNM,
And Sorry Birdie, the "Old FNM" got us in bed with the Chinese with loans long before Baha Mar.
Started with throwing out the Taiwanese Embassy.

Those who would win at any cost,
usually end up with nothing of value.
having destroyed that which they covet.

The_Oracle says...

Sheeprunner, a Coalition was not the case in 1967, the Labor party candidate (Randol Foulkes) was convinced to join the PLP, and the other independent was made speaker (Alvin Braynan) breaking the 18/18 seat tie.
A proper coalition would happen after election results, which would give a formal coalition more seats than the single party winner. It leaves all parties intact.
(from Memory so don't hang me on details)
I agree however, sometimes there is nothing salvageable left, soon to be the state of the country if this idiocy keeps up!

The_Oracle says...

The original dissident 8 were dismissed from the PLP, foundered awhile and formed their own party, they didn't try and hijack the PLP!
Which is what this smells like, trying to Hijack the FNM, therefore disregarding the rules of your own party.
Should you be applauded for sabotaging your own party and duly elected leadership?
You must be kidding. No matter who is backing you, it smells of desperation and rank insurrection.
Resigning might save a margin of personal honor at this point, but would certainly be a day late and a dollar short.
Should have been resigning before you petitioned for house opposition leadership.
Bass Ackwards all around.
But, perhaps if you take the DNA and Bran down with you the FNM might stand a chance!
