And who in their right mind would have expected the government to fulfill their end of the bargain/responsibility? When have they ever? Is anyone surprised?
So what was the "Government taxation" and "Port Fee" structure for El casino, Lucayan Casino, and the current Casino, aside not paying the gaming taxes? Precedent will have some bearing........

All the while pontificating about Sovereignty, patriotism, National interests. If only lightning would strike where needed. Time for Jail and confiscation of ill gotten gains.
When it was suggested by a Customs officer that "she deserved a free Christmas tree for all that she does for us" I agreed, and started a phone call to the comptroller, explaining to her that he deserved one also...... It has to stop, but when probably 80% of the private sector participates, it is obviously entrenched. It would be interesting to audit Civil servants to see how many live way beyond their means, Mansions, BMW's, etc etc, but then, if the money stolen from the treasury by politicians was available perhaps civil service pay could be reasonable. The hardest thing to fix, is broken people....
Now that they have wrested control of the country out of the hands of rule of law, They are free to persecute and prosecute any and all, in the name of self preservation, self enrichment and power lust. A national Intelligence agency with no supporting legislation is nothing more than a Ton Ton Macoute. Thugs and bullies making people disappear for political cover. Reversing the perversion has been damn near impossible historically everywhere else it has happened, as it has with the same formula and approach. Are we so special it cannot happen here? What needs reform is the character of the people of the Bahamas, more importantly, the character of its elected and appointed leadership! All else will follow in due course when there is actual and firm penalty for fraud and payola, petty theft and grand larceny! All crimes are committed by people, with a large and almost total number doing so in the name of the government! Until we hold individuals accountable for their individual actions, under rule of law, the boat will continue to sink.
