The only tool available to those who would rule by tribal means is fear. Not the style of Governance provided for in our constitution, but obviously the preferred method of our current crop of leadership and their blind followers. It is probably the biggest factor in the downfall of this little country with so much promise, but so many bodies and people discarded and destroyed.
Social media and their own nefarious activities are their undoing, but they have no conscience, no shame, no guilt. Nor apparently any intelligence. The dangerous part is they think they are all knowing. They have laid waste to this country in their ignorance and personal lust for power, wealth, They build nothing without destroying others. But we fund, elect, follow, worship, revere, and otherwise crown them. Until that stops, nothing will change for the better.
But, the Judges are political appointees aren't they? appointed by both PLP and FNM. Add some expat Judges who want the nice pension that their own countries do not give them. You expect them to make waves or stand up to their paymaster? AG's office is no different. Pure politicized tool designed to keep politicians out of jail, and not much of anything else. Bernard Nottage and all his cohorts past and present have all created this problem! If true justice were to prevail the argument wouldn't be who else can we all vote for, but that we better find someone to vote for because all PLP's and FNM's past and present are in Fred's constituency as residents!
In actuality today 80% of licensees are Bahamian, with the remainder foreign, not that it should matter. In the beginning yes, 80% were probably foreign, but then, that was the objective wasn't it? It entice foreign investment in a city created from scratch? Funnily enough our government today is giving away land and concessions with benefits in excess of those the H.C.A granted. Which actually conflicts with the H.C.A provisions against any benefits and tax concessions greater than those issued under the H.C.A being issued elsewhere in the colony. But then, why let rules or law get in the way of political favor or malice.
Fred more interesting in restricting large gatherings that may be forums for dissent. Watch out for A.D. Hanna type efforts, remember his proposal for permits to travel inter-island? If you force dissent underground it becomes a much larger and virulent problem. Stand up and admit that you and your party, equally alongside the other Party, have failed. You have failed by example, you have failed the rule of law, you have failed the Bahamas and it's people.
Glad someone mentioned the enrollment of 9 students. $55k/student. Hmmm. I agree with a digital library also, especially with almost everything accessible via the internet and U Tube University. Frigging idiots. Grosly disappointed in Mr. Fitzgerald. I also question the need for a Principal for 9 students? Couldn't the teacher, who we assume is following the standard National D average lesson plan be monitored from Nassau? Again, via an online program?
