And in 20 years we will be no further forward,
but way further downward.
Together.

A sham, a facade to hide behind.
No different than the Colonial Masters who, sensing unrest summoned rum to be sent,
to be drunk during a holiday declared!
And we eat this up hook line and sinker.

The_Oracle says...

People should be free to do whatever they can, whatever they can afford, Observing electrical and structural codes of course.
When the Government denies or restricts people the right to improve their circumstances through their own efforts, investment, innovation, nothing will be done.
Where is the incentive?

And next up will be the annual registration renewal of your system, the cost of which will probably be the exact amount you thought you would save by installing one!
Again, massive fines for non compliance.....

"He also said international observers have praised the efficiency of value added tax (VAT) implementation by his administration.....And we did it because we incorporated the private sector......."
Incorporated? More like dumped it on the private sector,You left it to them to implement and collect!
In perhaps the most stunning acknowledgement of Government tax collection incompetence,
You and your Ministry of Finance goons wrote the most penalty ridden legislation to date, turned it over to the private sector to implement and stand over them with a big stick should someone make an error in reporting !
Talk about different rules and penalties for the private sector vs. apparently none for the ruling elite and civil servant, who lie at fault for the need to implement VAT!
Delusional, a legend in his own mind.

All their money is stashed abroad so it is not going to affect them.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch,
Things are piling up!
Islandgirl do not give them ideas.
Carbon taxes and credits are exactly that, a tax on Carbon dumped into the air.
Think dump fires.
Globally they want to tax cow farts.( Methane)
Personally the Bahamas should tax brain farts, we could kill the national debt on politician output alone.

AA and US Air merge, and they honestly think there will be no effects felt here?
-"I am asking for the Minister and Director of Labour to enforce that American (Eagle) adhere to the policy and be honest in their dealings with them as the government first and then with these employees," she said. "Every day I receive 30 to 40 calls, 'what is going on, how are our lives going to go going forward?'- uh, looks like they already are?

The IMF and WTO will only care about a freedom of information act when they figure out how we have figured out how to slide things past them irrespective of their directives!
Business as usual by the usual suspects!

The_Oracle says...

Correct Economist, any Bahamian left who doubts how dire our situation is,
or believes our dumb assed Politicians can decide anything on their own,
Is living in a fools paradise.
All it will take is one or two EU-EPA member country citizen to file a complaint on the grounds of unfair treatment with regards to taxation.
Under WTO rule, tax all or tax none.
How can you be a "most favored nation" if it costs you more?
