One the Money Banker, that and they defer to the Government at every turn instantly doubling the red tape, approvals required and pockets to get sucked into.
Almost every idiot in the approvals/permitting/signing chain can veto and stop things cold.

Buying favor, is it not what foreign investors find our politicians want most?
Perks, payoffs, slush money.
Lord knows the Numbers bosses are flush with cash.
They're learning fast.

The_Oracle says...

This whole concept of "free" is such a blatant lie and illusion.
There is nothing free in life.
Will doctors work for free? nurses?
Will equipment suppliers "give" us free equipment?
Free healthcare is a complete and total lie.
We will all pay, via taxes, and with the Government involved, a government that cannot guarantee anything at all.
we will all pay dearly, some with their lives.
Nothing the Government touches, promises, or is responsible for works as it could and should.
This great "social experiment" will be a complete failure, but we will suffer the consequences
and keep paying long after the collapse.

The Government needs to decide:
revenue stream from Freeport, or kill it and let it become a burden on the treasury like all other out islands.
Arbitrarily abrogate the H.C.A. and risk developing a Banana republic standing internationally,
or try to grasp its potential.
Current ownership and management seems incapable of shifting out of their lethargic status quo,
but who would buy it subject to Government whim?
This animosity apparent from the Government hangs like death over the whole place.

The_Oracle says...

Shows how little Mr. John Rolle knows about Freeport and the H.C.A.
Focol, the default sole supplier of fuel wholesale and retail save maybe three independent stations already tracks and reports Bonded fuel sales by bonded license plate #, to Bahamas Customs, as do the independents.
No Bonded plate, no Bonded fuel.
You would think the Government would try to learn something before issuing contrary edicts!

The_Oracle says...

How conveniently he omits mention of those who "Choose" not to purchase private health insurance.
Same as those who "choose" not to save any money at all.
Basically he is saying the Government will value each citizens worth,
decide how much health care you will get,
Will make the decision they currently make through incompetence, neglect,
but now will make it on purpose.

The_Oracle says...

Not enough brains within Government to understand it, never was.
Hence the constant meddling, arbitrary interpretation, and lawsuits.
Government has not won a single case yet, including the one against the Government specifically on Bonded vehicles.
What they do not understand, they seek to destroy.
True enough.
Even Ingraham tried to shut down the bonding of vehicles, and failed. (1993?)
In the case of Bonded vehicles being used outside the Port area, Government themselves authorizes Vehicles to be used outside area, and did so for companies working for Gin!
Otherwise bonded vehicles found outside the Port area are impounded (unlawfully, again via court ruling specific to where Bonded vehicles can go).
Not that the Government has any respect for court rulings.
Or the law.

The_Oracle says...

And this statistic and level of apparent negligence is what we want expanded for standard
compulsory health care in the Bahamas?
Or is the Government hoping we will all pay but still pay for private health insurance
and health care?

Impressive Compliance efforts?
Try Massive compliance requirements!
The whole re-tagging exercise could have been avoided completely,
also alleviating public suspicion on price hikes,
Filing returns is done with remedial software and website,
Loose ends and questions all over the place,
The whole thing was run as a Junior Achievement exercise!
No offense to J.A, they would have done it more competently!
