Papa is no answer Voltaire,he is in part responsible for this mess and yes Mr. Miller,
the state of our country is the worst we have ever seen.
It is the price we pay for electing Village idiots with a bent for pilfering.
It is the price we pay for stifling independent thought,
it is the price we pay for political malfeasance.
What we need is enablers that say yes to Bahamians who have ideas,
and want to pursue their dreams with their own money,
be it installing Alternate energy equipment for their homes and or businesses,
or who can enlarge a competitive atmosphere in any sector of the economy.
We need yes men through the rank and file of the Civil service, retrained to understand their obligation to serve the people, and not be obstacles at every turn, scared only for their own jobs.
We need a return to the rule of law and accountability in both public and private sectors.
Unfortunately we are all busy protecting whatever we have, no matter how large or small, no matter lawfully gained or stolen.
Perhaps once we have lost it all we shall wake up...........

Over priced because the Government already makes more money from businesses than the owners do via 35% average duty on imports including Freight, and business license tax.
Skimmed right off the top, and on gross for the Business license.
Funny how everyone (with government encouragement I might add ) wants to demonize businesses, but do we want to depend on Government to feed us all?
Cause that is what the private sector currently does, and always has.
Without the private sector in a country it looks like North Korea, or worse.
So, lets all bash and trash the sector that has provided everything we have,
including the handouts from Government, via cronyism, Social services and padded contracts
which are derived by TAXING the productive.
And they now want more!
What we really need is a private sector week off, as a national holiday.
Remind Government who really owns and operates the GDP that they borrow against and tout as their own.
Ever heard of capital flight?
It is happening right now in this country.

Great way to accelerate the downward economic spiral K.Peter,
bad enough for the private sector to get hit with a 10% increase
in the cost of doing business, along with the entire population getting the hit also,
lets just implement the U.S. Fast food worker principal at the same time!
Ever heard of rampant inflation?
Think man, Think!

On 'Increase minimum wage before VAT'

Not only is Government causing a 7.5% VAT tax directly on sales, but all businesses back office costs will increase as well as the 7.5% cost on goods and services used by the business, including shipping, trucking, power, insurance, trades craft services.
Without a corresponding reduction in duty, the costs will increase 10-12% across the board.
As marginally as Bahamians run their incomes, that 10% is gonna be a big hit.
Agitation for wage increases will be next.
and so the escalating costs will spiral out of control, with many many casualties along the way.
Funny how it is the WTO requirement to reduce import taxes that has triggered the Implementation of VAT to replace duty,
but they ain't reducing the Duties!
Double dipping in the pockets of Bahamians.

First off, Casinos in the Bahamas are notorious for not paying their fees and taxes!
Bahamian tradition after all.
however to topic, Lawyers must sell their souls to the devil in exchange for passing the bar.
The more outlandish his statements, the higher his fees.
"Mr Munroe said “a peanut man” or a “cashier at BEC” could be chairman of the Gaming Board,"
Yes, these political appointments ride more on patronage and the buddy system that capability, which shows in spades in Government results attained, no matter their direction.

Another disgraceful display of power wielded to hurt and destroy,
rather than build, encourage or develop.
The Leadership, so called organizations of professionals, cartels and
cliques drive away countless talented Bahamians
all in the name of self preservation.
Is it really any wonder the country is in the state it is in?
