All of this has been on the table since at least 2007 when I read the position papers from the imf/oecd/etc/etc meetings. Leslie Miller would sleep at the head table and then Zhivargo fired the negotiation team and kept it all a big secret! Inevitable and pre-determined years ago.
Firstly, the minimum wage hurts those who are not deemed worth (by employers) that amount per week. they simply cannot get or hold a job.(Think D- and worse) Second, Minimum wage is suppose to be an entry level wage, not a wage for life. Thirdly, Government cannot legislate fairness or success or comfort. Lastly, The Government is usually the root of all problems, rarely the cure. We are now in full blown silly season, lies and promises should be counted like the Covid infection rate.
While Unions may have had a beneficial effect 150 years ago in the US and the Bahamas, with respect of working conditions and pay scales, they have long since become a blight on the general welfare of Members and the general public at large. Zero accountability, transparency. Zero value for dues.
