Illusions are easy, and often look completely different depending on which side one sits. Reality is another thing entirely. Delusions of Grandeur run strong in the PLP.
I still say issue the Rapid tests at the border on arrival, The ones donated. If they are serial numbered or bar coded the person can present or upload the result themselves 5 days later. Or at least let any Dr administer the test and verify the negative result. Lose the test? get a Fine. Don't do the test? bigger fine.
Grants and loans will dry up, but Business interests will not be alone, the Government will be right there increasing taxation to secure self preservation. Christmas supplies are sometimes ordered two months after Christmas, for delivery in Sept/Oct/Nov. Every economic activity has a timeline, including demise. Government most often ignores the timeline of cause and effect.
Or the Clinic/Medical facility is booked up/overwhelmed, or ran out of test kits, or was itself closed, or any number of other ways our Government screws these situations up. And what if I source my own rapid Antigen test kit(s)? Can I self administer and report the result? Why don't they supply/give the test kit upon entry to the country, and follow up for the administering and result on the 5th day? I mean, they have all of those kits at the ports of entry already........................
So is the Coalition getting the tests delivered to ports of entry back? Or is government keeping them but not using them in the way agreed upon? In any case, the about face is not surprising but still incredibly disappointing.
Sorry, the Bahamas Association of Medical Technologists position sounds like self protection/self interest. Tests that can be administered by anyone, population wide, is a good move. Expand your data base if results can be collected/correlated, and that part is important. If the rapid test requires a blood sample/finger prick, it is no different than a blood sugar test. If it requires a saliva sample, what is the danger?
