Geez, what else can they sell? Bahamians been gobbling up campaign promises and cheap rum and fried chicken for 50 plus years. No different than the British did when native unrest was detected and thwarted by a public holiday with rum and pig roasts. If we ever wake up there won't be a legacy/recognizable name on the slate from either party. Disgusted with the lot.
Because no one treats Bahamians worse than their elected, and the elected don't pay bills. I was told by a Civil servant that some rule had changed "because the people in charge different now" (in nassau) Is not the law the law? Or are we subject to rule of personality? These are the appointed we must suffer?
Can't do it all? Can't barely do any of it. Out of date knock off drugs, Med machines breaking down, no maintenance, But yet somehow Bahamians are supposed to trust the Government with catastrophic health issues?
A mid level technical subject, Obviously missed by those who wouldn't realize it was absent, Advisors in bec/bpl/urca who either knew it was omitted or also missed it. It does give one great confidence doesn't it? Not.
2% up or down is twice that of ul/csa/ce spec, @ 59.3-60.5hz. Main reason why grid tied inverters have trouble staying online here. Large scale grid tied solar/battery projects will also be affected, with tripping on and off line causing more potential instability.
Latest story is the boat was on its way to grand Cay and ran onto the wall avoiding a Crawfish diver swimming with a cooler in the water. Not sure where the sand bank comes into play. Plenty crawfish in the canal walls so people always swimming in there, always debris floating through on the current as well, etc.
A lot of questions surrounding this accident: Why is the boat up and over the unfinished sea wall in the canal, north side of the waterway with engines damaged? Videos on the internet show this being the case. That's not a sand bank. Second: is this vessel being run as a commercial taxi/ferry boat? If so, Capt would need an A license for inter island transport. Boat would need commercial vessel registration and the appropriate liability insurance, life jackets, safety gear, annual inspection. Other news report claim it was to or from Sweetings Cay, south side G.B. Too many questions.
rehashing an old concept from the 90's, revived in the 2000's, rumored in the 2010's. Not that it doesn't have some merit, but, unless The Bahamas realizes the benefits to the country and not just the foreign input/output airfreight and shipping companies, and encourages new Grand Bahama centric inter island shipping routes its a waste of time for everyone except the rest of the Caribbean. We get enough Chinese plastic noodles and rice here as it is.
the saddest thing is what the cruise lines have done to close the money loop in their favor. Add to that the buss companies that all local attractions have to use to get the cruise ship tourists on site and back to the ship, the commissions the whole daisy chain of middle men demand hotel concierge desks and the like, and the cut rate all inclusive price per head the cruise lines will accept, and mark up themselves on board, is it any wonder the tourists go for the one shot package deal aboard? Let's not forget the insane price the Cruise lines themselves charge locals for their own required liability insurance that costs 7 times that of locally procured liability from Lloyds of London. Imagine that, they won't accept Lloyds of London. One has to understand the cruise lines business model: they need locations for tourist bodies, not their money. that they keep aboard! Just remember that our government did this. PLP and FNM. They didn't understand the model. Still don't. Never will with all the new private Island locations approved. If it costs A vendor $30 to get a tourist from the harbor and back to the ship, it will cost $60 to get them from Carnival Island out east G.B.and back. And no one saw that coming?
