His shining glory was announcing international flights have resumed to G.B. He specifically mention Silver airways and Bahamasair. They have not. BahamasAir did one charter flight to "test " the temp terminal created out of the small FOB facility. Dude. Don't lie. Man up and apologize to the Bahamian public for your ineptitude and promise to do better.
"If you have no stove to cook on, you can eat take-out and save on VAT." So, one can't afford a camp style propane cooker but can afford fast food? And how does one prove to "fast food restaurants" that you have no stove at home? And then for take out only? What if I have no Stove or Dining table at home and need to eat in? "..more "affordably and in greater speed". Impossible. Government makes nothing affordable or fast. Period.
I also wonder what % of the private sectors power bill represents our "cut" of the Government power bill which he admits they don't pay? These guys are heading full circle to indicting themselves!
Whatever they eventually do be assured it will have no basis in a) sensibility b) will not work c) will cost us all the earth. As long as they persist in "consulting" with power company Management, and "insulting" the general public, nothing will happen, and certainly nothing good for the Bahamas.
$10k per house is great, but ya can't pillage from that so make it $20k a house so you can get your $10k cut. Besides that, no, Government is the poster child for over promise and seldom deliver, which crosses party lines as fast as some M.P.'s
Being forced to fly international via LPIA was quite the experience, and very positive! Kiosks for U.S. Customs and Immigration, seeing all those JETS of all those different carriers coming and going, the concessions stands in the departure terminal, even Kiosks for Bahamas Immigration on our return! Very smartly run and all while operating on one runway.
The Government taking over the Airport has a number of benefits going for it, and there are probably 3 different approaches or mechanisms they could use, but they ain't smart enough to figure even one method out so I doubt it'll happen. It is the only answer, but the Government seldom has answers........
So, the PLP implemented VAT, set the precedent of not refunding those due the refunds, and now it is a problem? Let's see the % of that $7Mil NOT refunded by the PLP vs. NOT refunded by the FNM. Not saying either has the high ground by any means. Incompetence.
