Low margins on fuel are an industry standard. While I agree with them on onerous govt taxes, the business model is no longer viable. The problem is there are too many operators and not enough customers. Thats the reality. For many stations its a common sight to see them empty 80% of the day. We cant just continue to increase fuel prices because everybody wants to run a profitable station, that would be disastrous for the economy. Gas and electrical costs underpin everything.

Its difficult to rate this team because they dont get the opportunity to play together at least once a week. individual skills if they have them will fall away with lack of team cohesion. Theyre clearly outclassed by their competition just as the mens team is, it will likely take years to develop the talent to compete effectively, hype won't equate to wins. But you can support even teams that lose because its your team.

Does any of this increase include the tripled electrical bills that bahamians are paying, the doubling food costs or gas prices near 7 dollars? I'm always baffled when they get excited about making money off peoples suffering of Bahamians. Akin to medical institutions that spoke about how well they were doing in the pandemic. The govt did the exact same when VAT was initially introduced. Noone knew at the time about their weird calculation method which resulted in not a 7.5% VAT rate but a near 15% tax on everything. And they were happy about it.

"*Mr Wilson, though, said these predictions are no cause for alarm or panic at this early stage in the fiscal year. He described the IMF as taking “a much **more conservative** fiscal view” than the Government"

Isnt that the exact point the IMF was trying to make? "*too rosy*"?

"*and reiterated that there will be no policy changes such as increased tax rates to burden Bahamian consumers and businesses.*"

Totally ignoring that what the IMF was calling for was for **govt** to reign in **its** spending, rather than a call to bringing the hammer down heavier on Bahamians. With the govt giving away 4m contracts to DigieSoft for software that already exists and offered free of charge (mindboggling), plans to build a new parliament, the finance minister clueless and the FS completely wrong on the BEC hedge, the govt has no plans to curb any of their behaviour

The Bahamas is the perfect testing ground for snake oil. I listen to people get excited about oil drilling, illegal gambling, home porting, blockchain technology, bitcoin, FTX, marijuana, satellite wifi technology and crypto and the story is always the same with the same result.

I saw it with the marijuana town hall everybody crammed into a room eagerly asking questions, with illegal gambling, people marching downtown demanding they get to make a million dollars too, home porting everybody talking about "getting ready" for something that it was clear was never sustainable. With satellite everybody heard "Elon Musk" and like clockwork everybody was going to switch to the new slower more expensive platform. That was an interesting anomaly because the sales pitch hadnt even started, they just heard the name and imagined they'd be getting some money in the deal.

But it's the same story over and over again. Some rich people flash money and talk about how well theyve done for themselves, Bahamians with the aid of the few locals who will actually benefit, start talking about how theyll get some of the money, the rich people get to do what they want and the Bahamians are left in the lurch to wait for the excitement of the next snake oil pitch.

The biggest snake oil pitch happens like clockwork every 5 years.

Getting excited about financial opportunity is normal what happens in the Bahamas is an anomaly. Because the excitement happens in an information and research vacuum.

He is spokesperson material if ever there was one. Athletic, handsome, black, successful in his sport and humble. Very impressive that he organized himself for his competitions from an early age, shows discipline, organization and goal setting abilities. This young man is a star. Keep on the straight road, keep on the straight road. and stay healthy. Congratulations to his mother and his teacher.

Oban maybe?? Remember the entire cabinet revolt? Even Jeff Lloyd his most ardent fan said there were some ~irregularities. That's saying alot. Minnis then apologized and pledged to be humble and change his ways which lasted for about a week

I dont think this said anything about the FNM, we need to be reminded that **only** 37% of registered voters voted for the winning PLP. That is damning non endorsement. **I think the byelection results are a revelation that the Bahamian people at large, minus the rabid supporters and expectant contract awardees who will vote for anything in their colour tshirt, have had it with poor representation from both parties.** Telling me I must vote for an incompetent visionless seat filler who will do nothing but bang on the desk for 5 years if I want to be heard is counterintuitive. Why not provide a clean system that righteous men are willing to participate in to move the country forward, then people will vote. And by righteous I dont mean holy and without fault, just ethical, principled, with standards and character.

"*A BPL spokesperson yesterday affirmed these woes, and described them as “an extremely unusual event*"

Strange, when I saw the headline "*emergency meeting*" and "*power outage*", my first thought was is emergency the right characterization for something thats happened every other week for years? Shouldnt it have read "*run of the mill meeting held*"? Now a BPL spokesman describes it as "*extremely unusual*", even stranger ...

Theres no way that for 50 years noone could fix this. recall when Peter Turnwuest tried to convince us thst hed balance tge budget in 3 years. Then proceeded to starve the country of infrastructure upgrades pointing to the reduction in the deficit. Then the insurance BEC bribe taker... purchasing faulty engines for BEC for a financial enducement.. then the hedge that wasnt when Brave came to power... the fire and subsequent Nassau 24hr blackout by management bucking safety protocol. the Warsilla engines in a building with a collapsing roof. these power outages dont just happen. they start in the belly of political parties and jobs as political rewards
