It's the perfect reveal for the 50th anniversary wouldnt you say? In the early 90's I for one would have chosen *.bz* for our domain name, assuming *.ba* and *.bh* were already taken by the smarter proactive countries. But alas, clearly someone understood the workings of the country better than I did. ".*bs*" is a perfect fit. Here we are in 2023, celebrating 50 years of "*excellence*" with a pirated national flag. And the Attorney General arguing that it's ok because the govt can infringe on copyright of private citizens and businesses while just last week proclaiming that the govt is going to work to protect the IP of Bahamians. You cant make this stuff up. But then again, I hear situations like this pop up frequently in Narnia

**This is VERY interesting. Nothing to do with this case. but the very interesting defence raised by Attorney General Ryan Pinder. Why is this interesting? The Attorney general is currently pushing forward as initiative to have more Bahamians submit and reveal their unique and possibly lucrative ideas for copyright protection. Who are these Bahamians with patentable ideas being asked to submit their secret ideas to? The govt that claims it has full protection against copyright infringement.**

Should you submit your idea to them and find the govt coming out with an idea that closely resembles yours, how long will the court dates run while you try to protect your intellectual property?

Jobeth Coleby came into office as a rising star. But something went sideways quickly. Running over the policeman's foot while ignoring the policeman's directive of blocked traffic may have been the canary. Then came the confusion with the taxi plates, then the bombastic we een talking about electricity costs and hedging no more and now this. There's been a history of ministers embroiled in confusion within their ministries and the full story never comes out clean. Lanisha Rolle, Adrian Gibson, Shane Gibson, Keith Bell...

Why was the ministry looking to give out a 4m contract to a new organization to build software that already existed?? That was in fact in use and working well according to accounts. If there were issues with the payment provider, switch payment providers, that's a separate issue from the software. Its plug and play. You dont throw away your car if you need to change the battery.

What was the minister doing? It's possible nothing was out of the ordinary but Pintard is correct to call for an inquiry.
The open question is were the decisions at the ministry being executed at the direction of the minister or was she being directed? Who's pulling the strings?

This is going to go bad very quickly just like NIB which had billions of funds misused over decades for politically motivated purposes. If I were a legal ethical enterprise I wouldnt be putting any money in any fund for govt to manage

The most odd thing about BTC is their Facebbok page. They will have outages going on 12-24hrs and their page will read for 24hrs, "we're investigating and we'll update you soon". There wont be a single update posted over the course of the outage. And yes the design for the non informative useless message "is" professionally done. But this is what we do all through the Bahamas, hide substandard behind nice clothes and pretty makeup. It cant change because every election we promote a whole new set of unqualified people to get their vote. Those unqualified people then do everything in their power to get rid of the smartasses. Cant have any one showing them up. So you end up with an executive where the dumb people rise to the top then glory in never haven gotten good grades in school but being in charge. Dr Minnis and Lanisha are perfect examples.

"*He added that the ABM had paid $50,000 to have SeaZ Pass added to its site in comparison to DigieSoft’s $3.355m.*"

I've been saying for over 5 years now that theyve found a way to shuttle money out the treasury with absurdly priced technology contracts. MyGateway should have cost no more than 500k but was priced at 5m per year for 5 years. Absurd. God knows how much the govt website overhaul will ultimately cost, the PS was impressed that they could add a form to submit questions and make it responsive supporting mobile phone layouts. Maybe they asked for an extra 5million to include the extra file.

Yup. Beggars and thieves is correct. I hear people talking about going to a republic and local govt, exactly what will change when the same people have to vote and begging fir money to vote for the local govt representative **and** you have political forces with access to our resources willing to accomodate them? The mindset has to change first and that involves teaching children what character and ethics are. These greedy men and women just looking for Nygard and Sam to give them money and een realize that they paying a huge price to get it

This result is bad news for both parties.

"*The issue for me is that I turn out my voters and I won,” he said. “We turned out our voters. *"

**I guess they have to put a positive spin on it, it's only natural but to consider a 65% turnout as an endorsement and 35% support of registered voters as "good news" is quite a bit of a stretch. Seems like people have no more confidence in this administration than they had in Minnis'**
