Can Mr Bell tell us why the firing was unlawful in plain terms? If he cannot he should not be speaking on this matter. Its unbelievable that he can use the weight of his office to make this statement then in the same breath say he doesnt know if a complaint was filed. This is the union, they know all the rules, if they think the officer was fired wrongly they can file a complaint. It cant be she cant be fired because "*its her*", how would any employer maintain order?

This seems really frivolous. How often are new uniforms issued? Was this mandatory or voluntary participation? Is paying for new uniforms something employees would expect to have to do? Does an employee have the option to say "*I dont want to pay*". Is this a practice as in other organizations where the employer gives employees the option to wear specially branded material for specific occasions and facilitates the purchase of the merchandise? It doesnt seem as if Bell knows any of this.

"*Last week, North Andros Island Administrator Beverley Laramore said she would investigate the matter. She declined to discuss it yesterday, citing a funeral she had to attend.*"

So you're the administration and you cant remember the **one** time the council received an illegal payment? We should expect her investigation to wrap up shortly after the Kirk Cornish matter

Noone has yet to explain, with clarity, why the entire board was fired, a 60 dollar makeup charge given as justification in one case, and post firing a deal executed that the board was in disagreement with an increase in costs to the tune of millions over the deal the board had approved.

**The Haitian problem is the love of money and corruption. Very similar to the Bahamas' problem**.

It essentially means no matter the size of the investment or aid flowing into the country, the lions share is cut off by the gate keepers and their errand people. They then leave the community starved and blighted while selected segments tied to special interests emerge to look like the French Riviera. The cycle continues as these same people go around the world asking for more money to help the disadvantaged people

If you want to solve Haiti you have to solve corruption. The funneling of money to businesses owned by govt officials their associates and high powered businessmen

The interesting thing is this new structure set up by Caricom is also ripe for corruption as persons in the know seek to establish their own businesses to profit off of insider information on business opportunities

Seek transparency and elimination of well known techniques of corrupt actors

"*when ace pitcher Edney ‘the Heat’ Bethel of Eleuthera attempted to play for the Exuma Navigators, whom he won the title with at the last games in 2001.*"

If The *Heat* competed in 2001 and he's an *"ace"* pitcher, (everyone would know him) how was he allowed to get to the game in uniform? Wasnt the team roster submitted *a month before the start* of competition for vetting of the recruitment rule?

That aside, its great to see older individuals competing in sports. Its a shame we are such a sedentary society though. Obesity is too normalized. With work and school pickup, morning and evening traffic, low wages, low education, for the majority there's not the time or the motivation. We have to change that. It would be nice if everyone could be given 8 hours of mental and physical health per week. Together with the weekend it could equate to 4 days of exercise. We'd have to be on the level of Qatar to afford it...or maybe not... a 4 day work week with the option to split one day...

What a story! I like that they report finding "*natives*". Those Bahamians were just going about their daily subsistence lives and 4 men fall out the sky. These are some interesting sleepy islands that somehow always find themselves thrown into global tug of wars. #hobbits

What charges will be laid at the fuel supplier? What does the contract say?

As to the govts responsibility, It would be good to get an engineer's perspective, I find it defies belief that the only way to find out whether or not a 10K(?) fuel supply meets expectation is to risk the damage of a multi million dollar piece of equipment or to render it unusable. Logically it makes no sense.

Speaking of prices I'm baffled at news coming out of the US. It was reported this week that prices are going down. But Rupert Robert's reported at the same time that his supplier prices are going up across the board. In the US gas prices are to their pre COVID levels. But our gas prices are almost 6 dollars, the COVID high.

**The question isnt whether they "*can*" pay, the question is, is it more than they are willing to pay**. And certainly you can stand on principle and say this charge mirrors the service provided. The one thing you cannot do is demand people continue the service. It's why initial price setting is so important, changing it is hard.

Imagine starting tomorrow the Rupert Roberts says all packing boys must get a minimum 10 tip for any shopping cart with more than 2 bags. You "can" afford 10 dollars but how would you view that new tax and would the 10 **mandate** turn you off completely from use of packing boys? These tradeoffs are things that marketing professionals and economists mull over every day, at which price increase will the customer balk? Our decision makers are clearly unaware of the concept. They believe like you that if you have money for discretionary services, you'll just spend it no matter the jump in price. Twitter is experiencing this backlash on introduction of fees as well.

**The Excel spreadsheet that allows you to increase the service fee rate 200% and project a massive increase in profits doesnt tell the full tale.**
