I read the headline and thought, thank goodness they've stopped talking about the "*first Bahamian astronaut*"... unfortunately, the tricky word is in the article.
According to NASA's part of the criteria for that designation is : "**Aspiring astronauts must have a master's degree in addition to at least two years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, they may complete at least 1,000 hours of PILOT-in-command time on a JET aircraft.**
At present **she will be the first Bahamian commercial passenger to space**. That either means she has enough money to pay for the privilege or some sponsor willing to pay for her. **Despite the hype of this trip, (i.e. William Shatner and Jeff Bezos went too) she is very accomplished and has several outstanding achievements over her career that surpass this.**
Two months ago it was reported locally that her company "won" a 9m contract with the govt. Actually reading the govt release, her company was one of 5 others chosen to BID on 9m dollars of contracts. Meaning, her company could win all 9.5m or it could win 0. The relevant words and sentences to comprehend are all in a google search
Let's use terms correctly. If she gains her pilot's license in future, she could indeed become the *first Bahamian astronaut*
I honestly dont get the "*return after 10 years*". It's the same as every other event, homecoming, regatta, etc etc it's the same food, same entertainment, same setup... the difference might be the streamers.
Wow. *"Will" get fooled again*. The vendors *cant open a store outside the port area without permission*. This does not sound like a company that wants visitors to venture outside the port area.
I think you'd find that there's a reason they dont allow them to collect fees. Based on a long history of fee collection. I recall Hubert Ingraham's comment on Adrian Gibsons matter and the way it damaged the party, he said "~*they should have asked us, theres a reason we didnt allow ministers to serve on boards*. I"'d say the Bahamas is a country filled with alot of people (not all, alot) who believe anything is ok omce you "*get ahead*", as George Smith said *why does it matter how you make your money*, for many that includes taking your share from the customer collections.
Your North Carolina relative most likely has a long list of checks and balances to ensure that million dollars is accounted for and some pretty serious penalties if it isnt. All someone has to say here is, "*the money was for shingles*", no receipts just I bought them and end of story. The good pastor will then accept the shingles money to do Gods work, praise the giver and ask for more.
They cant. Several of them are reporting issues with their equipment and no inventory of bottles. This jas been going on for at least a month. The govt dropped the disaster preparedness ball. They should have had meetings with stakeholders to understand the problem (too late now) and facilitate remediation. Water is a need.
