**Privatization hasnt worked for any industry where the sole income source is the Bahamian citizen**. The only case where privatization has worked is NAD because their income comes from an unlimited global customer base "normally" immune to price hikes. When I say "*immune*" I dont mean they dont reel the weight of price increases, but they are in a special category as theyve planned a trip and incorporated in that plan a one time investment in a product that might be expensive but will offer dividends in relaxation.
Privatizing NIB will result in quadrupling of costs to employers and employees because a private business has to earn a profit, it will result in lower compliance because businesses wont be able to sustain the increase or theyll reduce staff to make the payments.
We can see the patterns in BTC, Bahamasair, UB, BEC, Cable.
**(In my opinion) The only solution for the Bahamas is widespread growth beyond a Bahamian customer base. This does not have to be a tourism offshoot. This means an expansion of private enterprises by "normal" Bahamians with innovative ideas, not straw, peppersauce or jam and not individuals with access propped up by connections to a govt contract. Unfortunately the ideas that have foretold such growth are stolen by those in power and then bungled, killing any chance of reaching envisioned potential. Those that did provide some return are held in the hands of the same oligarchs meaning only they increase and the revenue base for the country is short circuited again. Look at all the individuals vying for construction, oil and ports, Sebas, Franklyn Wilson and Anthony Ferguson... again**.The country will get nowhere with the usual get **me** richer suspects. There also seems to be a new pattern of frontmen targeting key country assets, eg Mayaguana Port and GBPA, likely backed once again by foreign interests or the oligarchs, neither will result in the economic revival at the street level that we need.
**Then you really didnt read the article**. The director is clearly saying that while contributions have increased it's not enough, specifically pointing out the aging population and the increase in persons claiming benefits going from 7 workers per retiree to 3 workers per retiree to support the program. She also cited the need for a wage ceiling increase,... so none of this is **all** rosy news
"*It is important to note that a significant portion of the 2025 deficit, $15m or approximately 50 percent of the shortfall, results from the persistent gap between contributions collected and benefits paid...*"
While the projected deficit dropped by 4m, it's still a size ac ble deficit that is unsustainable over the long haul
"*'...As long as the Progressive Liberal Party is in power ...', Mr Halkitis said yesterday"
And that is precisely what everyone suspected!... a gimmick calculated to cost approximately one month or so of VAT revenue in a last ditch attempt to scrape the election from the jaws of defeat

I wonder if the people selling their birthright saw the report of the irate Haitian national upset that their illegal shantytown structure was torn down. The officer said "*this is the first time we've encountered this type of reaction*".... It will only get worse.. until its uncontrollable, whether that's 5, 10, 50 or 100 years the Bahamas is headed for a violent takeover aided by the treasonous Bahamians selling their childrens future for 50 dollars
In defense of the officer someone said "*I know him*"... first bad sign, because generally speaking criminals and bad actors are clearly people we "dont know". They then continued with "*he's a nice guy*". And this is where Bahamians go wrong. Most criminals are likely likeable people, charismatic, think of Satan, he's the most beautiful creature ever created and has the gift of persuasion. The cocaine dealing "*high ranking politician*" was not only able to get thousands to vote for him but also got his party to give him a position of trust. There'll be a line of people speaking of how "nice" he was and all the "good" he did when he gets caught. This is where real danger comes from the ones you dont suspect, those on the inside or in a "*cloak*" of trust, like a police uniform. Because your guard is always up against the "other" people.
"*dismissing recent flare-ups and criticism of constituency boundaries as routine political noise..*"
