"*Dr Rhianna Neely-Murphy, the Department of Environmental Planning and Protection (DEPP) director, said there are rules to control noise in residential areas and added that construction hours will be regulated.*"

**What sell out.**

Do not believe it. **You are at the mercy of the developer and can only pray that they dont care more about making another penny than they do about your eardrums and lungs.** The MOW will tell you construction can go on any hour of the day and night as long as they have light. Can you imagine that?? That's actually a policy.

Anybody over 2 years old knows that there is no noise control enforcement anywhere in the Bahamas. Construction crews and house parties can be operate anytime of the day, 24/7, 365 days per year. And at 3AM in the morning the sound will travel for miles. The only people who wont hear it is the police.

"*The reason for setting up in The Bahamas now goes away.”*

We always pitch these rosy scenarios...ooh homeporting could open up a whole new revenue stream, ooh how much well make implementing boating taxes, ooh with VAT at 12% wellbeing in so much extra revenue... it's so weird that CV they believe this stuff.

It was obvious from the time it was announced as a big plus for the Bahamas, if multinationals had to pay 15% wherever they were domiciled, the entire premise for setting up in the Bahamas would go away. It didn't necessarily mean that theyd leave, but there'd certainly be no reason to say. And 15% of zero is zero.

They need to amend the law to include visual access to the remaining beaches from the road. It's only 1/2 a beach left, they want take that too?

On DPM pledges continued Bahamian beach access

"*Everything in The Bahamas is a joke every time.*"

Well summarized. 20,000 simultaneous hits might challenge a small entrepreneur but it shouldny be an issue for a mega site. Truly surprised the number is so low for failure,

Anyway what is junkanoo if the talks arent bigger than the delivery. . Gaps between major groups, lots of boring half drunk scrap gang fillers (why is this entertainment, watching people drink openly on bay then try to play music??), road blocks preventing too large costumes getting to Bay, next year we'll implement a rule for the 20th time to limit size, One A group that shouldnt be an A group will have scrappy costumes and too little people, are there no more rules this year, I forget... no disqualifications so Saxoms will be full carnival outfits... what I miss? Oh. "*dey rob us*"

"*If persons think about the real cost of using cheques, with fraud and persons stealing through that mechanism, it’s probably a lot less than digital mechanisms, which have an audit trail and are based on higher efficiency than cheques.*"

Wow that is a really naive statement. Criminals go where the money is. Al Capone likely wouldnt do well in today's economy. Criminal masterminds tend to change along with technology. Eliminating cheques will not eliminate fraud or theft. And as opposed to lowering costs, digitization saw the introduction of all kinds of fees and charge hikes at the bank.

They're going about their digitization push all wrong. Its truly amazing to watch. They went as far as to rig the game first for one player to the central bank then to limit the playing field to a few more, and it all failed. Now eliminating evil cheques is the answer.

The law currently allows contractors to do work 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. I dont know what progressive country has such antiquated allowances. Our MPs really have sat on their brains for 50 years. So many simple fixes to quality of life issues.

And someone could point out that while passing a law is simple enforcement is not. True. Because you've allowed chaos to reign. I no longer bat an eye when I see 4 cars speed through a red light one after the next, or a car use the turning lane to go around a line of traffic to turn left on red. Saw a police car do it this week. The commissioner is failing, any day now theyll claim lack of results and replace her with their real choice.

The story did not indicate how long the construction project would last and they only address "noise". The other health concern is **dust**. A three year long construction project with nonstop mounds of dust being blown over you and through your lungs will have devastating impact on persons with asthma and other breathing problems and may trigger breathing and other problems in those not previously affected.

But who cares right? Someone is making money, through Christmas. New Years, Easter, Independence, Labour Day Emancipation Day and every other waking moment of 1000 consecutive days of nonstop dust.

Maybe theyll pass a law two days before election to show how much they care

You can do good things badly. Sometimes very badly. Decades of failed IDB projects lend credence to the statement

"*Today's generation is looking for quality-of-life considerations when they come to work. They’re not like me, working 365 days a year, 15 hours a day. Those days are gone,” Mr Sands said.*"

That's not necessarily true. Yrs they are considering quality of life but it doesnt mean they have an issue working 15 hours a day. The issue is who they do that work for and how they do it. They dont want to be prisoners in an office building for 15 hours and they want a return for that time other than a long service award.

"*...residents had expressed concerns that the hospital could make flooding “even worser.”. Those fears were raised during a heated Department of Physical Planning hearing in October. These concerns were also highlighted in the town planning certificate, **prompting the committee to require an in-depth drainage plan for the hospital**. The Ministry of Works later approved this plan.*"

Hold our collective heads. According to this account the drainage was only addressed after widespread complaints. And possibly of even more importance "*maintenance*" of infrastructure was identified an issue contributing to the Imelda flooding (side note climate change parrots take note, we caused the problem, not climate change). God help us
