Thats not what he said. According to his statement, he fully believes business should pay taxes but he encourages having a conversation with those who may be delinquent. Banks function like that. Communication gets more money collected. All of us have been granted grace for something. You will do more harm with these *we coming to take everything in June* tactics than anything else.

I cant read his mind so I dont know if he's playing good cop bad cop

He should be, Im not certain he was functioning like it. Some time back I commented that both he and Halkitis appeared to have seeded control of finance to a public officer. Im also not certain if this is pandering or if he actually intends to claw back the absolute power handed to the individual. The hitlerish decisions made by ministry of finance over the past year have been mind boggling

"*whether the labour market is at the point where every Bahamian seeking work can find it, he told Tribune Business: "I'm not sure we're at that position yet, but the majority of people who want a job can find a job. The opportunities are plentiful*"

Last report was unemployment was above 10%. Assume 1/3 of the population can work, thats 10% of 150,000 people without jobs. Assume half of these people dont want to work, thats 7500 unemployed people. Without access to any survey data its relatively easy to say while the hotel opening is good news, 700 hotel positions is not enough fir *everyone who wants a job to get it*. More than likely most applicants will be happy to have employment but underemployed. We need innovation

Not saying who's right or wrong but it appears odd because we are not used to town planning. Decisions on what goes where and who can open what are common debates in cities. Someone should have been arguing when all those webshops opened on Fox Hill Road (I do believe people did but the city managers didnt care) the way those businesses exploit the poor is not a wholesome thing

lol. What number this is now? I suggest a committee to investigate the commissioning of committees

*“A team will be dispatched to do follow-up,”*

Huh? They going to the site today to see for themselves? But their own department gave the order to the pig farmer that all of his livestock was contaminated by either consuming vegetation contaminated by oil or ingesting oil in the process of rooting(?) for food. This was months ago

"*What's the amount of goods we can substitute by producing in The Bahamas?" he queried.*"

The cost of electricity together with the Bahamian retailer's approach to charge the highest price possible for everything means manufacturing efforts, food production etc, are dreams at best.

Remember last year when fish went from 30 dollars to 60+? Gas prices had only gone up 20%. A 6 dollar difference. Same amount of fish, same amount of people, same amount of travel and effort. They just took the attitude gas prices high so it was justified. Thats why our import bill is high

Im not certain why this is a surprise. Yesterday I paid 150 dollars for a computer part that if purchased in the US would have cost me 45 dollars. If I did not need that item immediately I would have imported it. I do not understand why every item in a store requires a 300% markup. I understand business license and rent and electricity, but if it translates to 300% markup it seems like an unsustainable business to be in.

Why are the sports stories suddenly disabled for commenting? Because we lost the football match? Another area where we ride on enthusiasm rather than reality. I heard a foreign footballer speak about their country's chances of moving up in world cup qualifiers and they very calmly talked about realistic options, taking into account the skill of their competitors. Their focus was more on their country's sport development effort, not so mich where they were now but the bright outlook for the future if they continued with the strategic plan

Will there be a local office with employees? I can't see why they need one. And if there is, will they have the same employee relations as Twitter employees?
