I sometimes think about how black people were and are today treated in the deep south. It was just 2019 when James Bird was tied to, dragged behind a truck and killed. Its almost unbelievable that that happened 4 years ago. It's a little removed from a shooting, that person dies instantly. This man had to have been screaming for miles. And you have to wonder what kind of hatred would make one human being do that to another human being... for just breathing. No we dont want illegal immigration we dont want shantytowns but we also dont want to forget they're human beings. They're us. Stay away from dehumanization its the feeding ground of atrocities
Every few years we go through some business buzz period. first we had "entrepreneurship" and all the sharks and bottom feeders started offering services to make everyone an entrepreneur. Then we had block chain and the dumb, "*we gonna put it ON THE block chain*" phrase, thats like saying "*we gonna put the shopping list on an IF statement*". Then we had FX trading and the bottom feeders shifted to daytrading classes. And now we have digitization and wave after wave of people who dont understand technology talking about how theyre cashless... in the Bahamas.. where 90% of the people have less than 5000 dollars, if they have a bank account, a good percentage cant read and opt to pay 3 dollars for a days worth of data when they need to make a call. Youd think by now they'd get a clue, they created a solution for the wrong market... who knows... maybe in 20 years we'll be talking about how they were ahead of their time
Doesnt have to make sense. An angry person needs a target, the target just has to be in the line of sight. I dont even get the impression Mr Davis knows half of whats happening, he didn't know about BPL, didnt know about the hospital, didnt know about the price control measures or impact.. "but", he's in the line of sight. And I dont say he didnt know as a criticism, I want him to do well, I think he is the first PM since Pindling maybe who could galvanize the nation **if** he does the right things, **if** he takes control back from the FS. He's no mythical saviour or perfect, he just has that likability factor
**If they dont manage money properly it wont matter if taxes are regressive or progressive**. I guarantee you with our current political system, if they ever reach of surplus on this blood money, however unlikely that is, the next thing you will see is all the cronies getting multi-million dollar contracts followed by the budget debate announcing the need to increase the tax rate. Remember the caller who proudly pronounced, "*yall dont get mad with me, my govt in and I gettin contract.*". Not only did they get a contract, they got crown land, their govt in power.
..actually they dont even need a surplus, their eyes grow big when revenues increase
While the police need to take every threat seriously. We already know that they're constantly getting these calls. They just dont make a breaking news announcement. We know because they told us when they publicized Loretta Butlet Turner getting death threats and subsequently allowed MPs to carry firearms.
I think the next PM needs to think seriously, **now**, about who he wants looking after the security of the country when a crisis hits. This job is more than the ceremonial uniform.
Agree. The problem is when they implement income tax, they will go on a wild spending spree and we will end up paying income tax, customs duties and 15% VAT with annual hikes in govt fees. The problem isnt the regressive tax, it's mismanagement
