What do these parliamentarians actually do? They're surprised that people still have outside toilets, they werent aware that shanty were spreading so rapidly, their hands always tied by legal limitations of laws they banged on the desk to pass and now who knew that disaster preparedness wasnt being coordinated? Who could have possibly known? The person in charge of it all? Clearly not.
I wonder if the Happy Easter billboards got put up?
We keep hanging our hat in th his cruise ship industry when it was demonstrated from 5 years ago that year over year they're giving us diminishing returns. They know it because they've moved strategically to ensure less and less money gets into bahamain hands. The only people who seem not to care is those in parliament.
Hopefully China will report th o the public soon on what's happening in the discussions in those private rooms of parliament
Enjoy the breadcrumbs. How much Adrian and Lanisha going to court for again in "*alleged*" corruption? All together it's well in excess of a million. And that's only 2 junior people who just reach.
Also, this story got pushed aside, literally, it was amazing to hear it in real time, because we wanted to talk about the excitement of carifta! It barely generated a blip. Sports and games are exciting and deserve attention, but they've also been misused from the time of Caesar to divert public attention from unpleasant realities on the ground
"*We are looking to put in fines on the delay of the removal of the wreck in Abaco. How our legislation is drafted…. is our legislation restricts our ability to have to issue what’s called spot fines, fines on the spot. They require us to go to court get a judgment and issue the fine. We are now redrafting some regulations under the DEPP Act to allow DEPP to issue spot fines in instances of continued non-compliance.”*
I'm always amazed at Parliamentarians who complain about what the law doesnt allow them to do when it's clear to everyone that "*the law is an ..*"
The job of parliament is not to wait until some incident happens and they accidentally bump into a restrictive covenant, their job is to fix and modernize systems continuously. **The Senate is a complete waste of time. They apparently do nothing**. Every bill that comes across their desk passes with no objection from the majority including this, "*let's not issue spot fines no matter how egregious the environmental damage is, let's open a court case so one or two of us could be assigned as lawyers and make millions from some waste generating lobby*" our laws are clearly made to benefit lawyers
Completely off track: This nonsense "*high water mark*" needs to be abolished. What is Parliament doing? Are we brainwashed? No Bahamian should have to ask permission to sit on sand anywhere in this country.
To the story: "*, he admitted they did not take the garbage to New Providence and instead piled the trash “to be collected.”*
Who was supposed to collect the garbage and when. Because it's been pretty window empty cans foam containers and papers "*in a pile(" can be strewn "*everywhere*", inclusive of the water, a couple hours
Why do they keep pushing this narrative that customers happily migrated to digital when they were actually forced to. Its their business and they can make any decisions they want but in no stretch of the imagination was this customer led
Hmmm I didnt attend so I wouldnt know if what youre saying is correct or not, but it does sound like a generalization to say that nothing worked and noone did their job and everything was horrible. What I will say is The Bahamas has a tendency to spin stories to alternate realities. In the run-up to the games for example there was a narrative that this year we just might win for the 50th anniversary. It clearly had a foundation in fantasy as Jamaica doubled our medal count with the majority being gold. Why do that? Theres no purpose to it if it's clear there's no chance of an overall win. There is nothing wrong with second place or even last place if you did the best that you could do and you did it honestly. A better narrative eould have been we think we have a great chance to improve our medal count, that was possible and highly probable. The Bahamas needs to run its own race, stop inventing feel good fantasticsl narratives and plan for future improvement
Lol. They need to look at the beach end of Prince Charles where a previous administration spent about 2million to plant plant seawall protection along a stretch of a few hundred feet, the majority got killed by seawater (go figure), the next administration came in and poured cement over the soil, this administration came in and finished the job of chopping down the shrubbery the seawater didnt kill. perfect strategic planning.
