It cant be said that the duties werent paid because you have a rdceipt that says duties were paid.
I'd buy your argument about being "*oblivious*" if IR had set an example by swarming that business that they said owed **six million** in immigration fees and hundreds of thousands from the food program jist 2 or 3 weeks ago. But they didnt. You know how I know they didnt do a surprise raid to show *how we deal with tax dodgers*? Because the PM said "*when we SPOKE to them*". So there is another way.
And you know why they didnt reveal the name of the businesses? So theyd stay in business. Well...
So minus a phone call and a remediation plan, this business shutdown probably the most lucrative side of its operation and will undoubtedly reduce staff. More unemployed, more requesting uemployment benefit from NIB and seeking assistance from Social Service, But on the bright side I guess we proved our point.
Said before, Brave Davis needs to accept the fallout or take control of that ministry
I can see what the mother is saying, they didnt hear from the lady who should have returned 5 days earlier. They started calling all around making appeals to find out if anyone knew her whereabouts, all of us would have done the same. When they did locate her they most likely found an explanation that wasnt ideal, the newspaper probably contacted them for an update but they're under no obligation to violate their own privacy.
**Another license to thief is crown land giveaways to the buddies**. Tex Turnquest used the power of his office to give land to his potential father in law, that's the one case we know about
This is my point to @bonefish who doesnt seem to get it, IR is acting like they're dealing with maximum security prisoners or enemies of the state. Send the people an email, a phone call a text message, it takes much less effort to do that than this other.
"*I*" ***like*** to say I went off to school in a first world country??? Nothing could be further from the truth. I see the issue, you have a problem with reading comprehension
Again @bonefish, you completely miss what I said the *last* time, we are in total agreement that people should pay taxes and that there is a problem with tax evasion, the only thing we disagree on is the methodology. And literally the only element of that I have a problem with is the fact that the businesses werent afforded some *direct* notice before the heavy handed tactics were used. As I said multiple times, I'd be okay if this were the 3rd **direct** contact to collect. These aren't hardened criminals
"*Minister of Labour Keith Bell also expressed excitement for the IHOP franchise. He said now Bahamians can enjoy the restaurant in the country first hand*"
We have no strategic goals. 2 weeks ago Dr Darville and Brave Davis were wringing their hands covering themselves in sackcloth and ashes about the rate of obesity in this country and how "alarming" it was. And right before our eyes heart attack city opens and the Sugar Factory is referred to as a downtown "attraction". People need jobs yes but what do we tell the single mother who thinks she has to weigh an option to prostitute herself to feed her kids? There must be a better way.
So OPEC made the announcement to slash production yesterday. We'd have to know the purchase cycle of the local dealers and we'd have to see what the US does with their oil supply in response before we start wringing hands. This does not mean gas jumps by a dollar tomorrow or next week.
"*It’s a process,” Mr Wilson explained. “Once we gather information and think we have probable cause we’ll take action. We have to get a court Order. We have to go to court under the legislation and present information in order to seize equipment, goods and records and so forth.”*
The one important step missing from the process is communication. Whats the goal? To get people compliant or to be the strongman?
