"*Gowon Bowe told this newspaper this was due to CrowdStrike’s impact on the processing firms rather than Bahamian commercial banks. He added that the Association’s members were impacted to “varying degrees”, but the ability to process customer card transactions for all was restored by the day’s end.*"
This is incorrect. Every single card owner could probably tell you of at minimum 5 instances when the electricity was off or the card machine was "down" as they like to say. Beside the common sense of having a backup, the infrastructure in this country is not ready for reliable consistent available cashless.
I remember when the port announced that they were opening a junkanoo museum, the show host said something like *this is wonderful!*, even brought in a j UK nkanoo expert to speak about how wonderful it was.
All I could think was, who okayed this? Why would you place this thing that is uniquely Bahamian, something you could point to the tourists and say this is ours, right at the cruise ship steps??? Put that someplace out South Beach and force an exciting tour through the streets culminating in the ultimate Bahamian experience.
But no.
All we like is ribbon cuttings and ceremony, when we realize all the goods gone is too late. Beaches in tourist spots in Italy I believe are now denying tourists the ability to reserve beach spots using placement of beach chairs. Sounds familiar? Everybody but us understand the value
They will keep biting away and biting away until they have an all inclusive stopping point on the dock.
Meanwhile we doing our own damage bulldozing the hills on Athol island that protect NP from storm surges. If Bay St, the cruise port and north eastern NP gets washed away, how many years do we think it will be before the next cruise ship docks? And what becomes of this tourist facility you created to attract cruise tourists?
Exactly. ROFTL. Like "*hustling*" is good. If they just offer reasonable rates to Bahamians they wouldnt have to hustle.
They likely have the same disease suffered by most small business owners. They want to charge a few customers exorbitant rates as opposed to having lower reasonable rates to attract a wider customer base. Why service 20 customers for 4 hours when you can make the same 300 dollars off one unsuspecting tourist?
Their complete inability to deal with multiple oil related environmental disasters (caused by their failed infrastructure) in a timely manner is **extremely** troubling. In the Abaco case they let every drop of oil from a compromised storage container seep into the ground for over 2months, (that we know about, with oil reported up to a mile away), before taking any action or even acknowledging the leak.
You are correct, if they cant deal with these isolated events, how will they respond to one that's countrywide?
**They're not trying to "*pull off* anything. The one thing you can be assured of is no country is going to jump to shut down their economy again unless people are dying in the hundreds**.
If anything they're going out of their way to downplay the cases. The individuals from the account given are in for symptoms "*normally*" associated with whatever they have and aren't strictly experiencing COVID related symptoms. According to Darville, if they werent tested, you wouldnt even suspect that they had COVID
"*The officers pursued on foot and were able to detain one of the suspects*"
This is excellent. Assuming the suspects were young with lots of energy, the officers were in sufficient shape to be able to sustain a run to capture at least one criminal. (Also possible the criminal was out of shape, but let's be positive!). Fitness requirements should be reintroduced to the police force
"*We are appealing to members of the public. We must, we must remove these firearms from the streets. They are killing our sons.*"
We must have an independent commission of inquiry to eliminate the possibility that there is a criminal syndicate operating inside the police force using inside information and abusing the power of the state for profit
I just ordered a chicken combo from Wendy's. I dont eat fast food often it began to taste like paper , almost 2 years, anyway, it was 11.95. To say I was shocked would put it mildly. The last time I purchased I recall it was around 7 dollars. The line was very long. Taxing food sounds good but people will adjust to a certain extent. To really change the mind has to be altered, and taste buds reprogrammed
He may be an elitist but when it comes to someone putting instruments inside your body and cutting or moving things around, I dont begrudge anybody for taking the best option they can. What I do demand of him is that he does not play with this new hospital, it will likely mean life or death for most of the rest of us and he should realize that and should care about it, I'm not sure that he does. I'm not sure if theyve actually done any study to determine the most pressing medical needs for the public or whether they just grabbed on PR initiatives, babies and pregnant women, both important.. but Dr Darville just spoke about the number of elderly persons who are left at the hospital, will that be an even greater future need? Did they even consider it? What about cancer patients? What about kidney patients? What about a better ER?
Losing weight would help with almost any condition you cN think of. I almost feel like we should declare this a national emergency, a crisis, and 2 hours of the work day for every citizen should be devoted to exercise and access to one good salad. It would have a dramatic impact on everything.
**But** there are so many kinds of back injury who knows what he has, if severe, surgery would be the only relief. And dont be letting just anybody play up in your back.
Though this case wasnt a virus, the truth about both viruses and thieves is, *they go where the money is*. If all the world were on Macs that's where the viruses would be. People just need sufficient motivation to break a system, money, politics, cyber war etc
With almost 90% on Microsoft it's a perfect target.
