So back in the day the talk was, if you do it online you avoid all the costs of traditional business. Well guess what, it wasnt only the innovators who understood this, the world leaders recognized that internet businesses were taking from their pot. So what did they do? They started created legislation specifically to reap from online services. The Bahamas jumped in the ring taxing facebook ads and air bnb rentals and in true ANTI innovation form theyre looking at what else they can strangle.
There's one truth you can trust. The OECD will not allow their citizens to bank in the Bahamas unchecked. Digital assets, cryptocurrency will be no different. If you trading it for your clients and impacting tax collection in Europe, they will force you to reveal it and tax it.
This is what happens when a national entity has a stake in a private firm and they have the power to eliminate all of its competitors. First it was the moratorium on payment providers. Maybe next govt wont accept payment in anything but sand dollars. This is all anti-innovation
sweethearts can be raped too. I remember two prominent married men charged with rape of a girlfriend. In both cases charges were predictably dropped after a few weeks
Im really concerned about the poor analysis of the data by NEMA. there was no need to tell anyone to purchase any plywood, especially given the astronomical cost. Saying we have to be extra careful is simply wrong. What we "have" to do is interpret and relay the data correctly. If individuals want to take what youve said and decide to be "extra" careful thats fine, its your job to relay the correct amount of caution based on available "data"
"*estimated the property will directly employ up to ten persons, and indirectly up to 100 through rented vendor stalls*"
So the non profit wants the land... lease/rent doesnt matter, who's going to bulldoze a Dorian memorial to get land back? I would say they need to have some serious checks and balances in place to ensure that the implementation and use matches the beauty and functionality of what is planned. We dont need an Oban land grab or a straw market and we dont need a half finished project with one building developed in 20 years.
I do hope they have strategies, should this come to fruition, to ensure this doesnt turn into an unsightly straw market with cheap tshirts and bags hanging over every bare wall inside and outside
At 4:15??? Are they serious? The guy in Inagua said they had maybe 20mph winds. Even Turks and Caicos only had tropical storm force winds. This sounds like a PR team looking for a disaster to manage. Evacuating people was a waste of resources, I heard people talking about plywood and battening down, for what? Plywood is expensive, why you make them people rush and buy those supplies for a non event? It was clear from last week Thursday when they issued a hurricane watch... for who knows what...that this was not headed our way, jiggle, wobble or not.
They needed to save their money, we still gat 2 months to go.
I dont think he meant any disrespect to people who lost relatives. He has a valid point, it does seem as if to date its **all** ceremony and not much actual progress
I agree with sheeprunner. Its a Dorian obsession. what has come of 3 years of talking about the worst disaster ever? Nothing. It is an obsession, a billboard, a park cleanup, a school bag give away, roses on Mothers day, chocolate on valentines. Busy work.
The world moving on, correction "moved on", we cannot be hung up on one disaster forever. Set some relief goals, get them accomplished because hurricane season comes every yeae
