"*Nicole is **expected to strengthen into category one hurricane by Wednesday**, however last night a Department of Meteorology forecaster said **the storm should be OUT of the country and in the vicinity of Florida at that point**.*"

**Exactly.**

I dont think these officials know what they are doing to people. Chester Coopers advice was "*Everybody should prepare for the worst*". Are they serious? Have they really analyzed the data? Is this really "*the worst*"? 2-4 inches of rain and 40mph winds??? That rain event we had earlier this year that drenched western new providence was 6 inches of rain. Just stop it with the overkill please.

**When forecasters in Florida give weather warnings they zoom in down to neighbourhood level to tell people exactly who will be affected, where and how because they cannot afford for millions of people to panic at once.**

This new trend to tell everybody it's better to over prepare is nonsense. And Its wasteful. How many of those people clearing the food store shelves in Nassau really needed a trolley full of supplies? Disadvantaging people who actually needed to shop? But thanks anyway for getting rid of all the near expiration stuff.

WhatsApp is just fueling the flames people forward these storm warnings around without nuance. All people see is "hurricane". I had an elderly relative panicking thinking Dorian was headed to Nassau from the dire warnings given on radio. **I'm also baffled as to why the Bahamas has a hurricane warning in effect when we're expected "as of now" to only have tropical storm conditions**, this is unhelpful.

**Can somebody with an analytical brain and the ability to critically examine data take charge please? This is exactly how we got in the mess with the minimum wage and grocery prices debacle. Bad information/Information misuse**

And again, storms ARE unpredictable, just keep watching and if something changes change tactics

"*Everyone must prepare for the worst*"

Wrong. "**Everyone**" should **not** prepare for the worst. Some "maybe" should prepare for the worst. Some should prepare for inconvenience. Some should be ready to offer assistance if needed. Who should prepare for the worst and who should be preparing to assist requires data on who is likely to be impacted and how severely. Will we have a significant storm surge? What does 3-5 ft look like? Does that come on shore? Where? Is it on all northern islands is it any island? What dies 2-4" of rain look like and where?

**This everybody panic messaging Ive been hearing all day is NOT disaster preparedness**. Couldnt believe people in Nassau were rushing grocery stores. Its ridiculous. Yes anything could happen in a day but so far, just like Fiona, the data is saying something completely different from the panicky interpretation

The govt wants to do good things. Minimum wage was a good thing. Trying to reduce prices was a hood thing. But doing those good things without performing the proper analysus, without gathering the necessary data without understanding the impact caused CHAOS

"*stealth takeover of the healthcare industry” since it seeks to introduce price controls similar to those that have roiled the food and pharmaceutical industries.*"

figured the opposition was about loss of income. this isnt as clear cut as the grocers though. because generally if people cant afford a 30,000 dollar surgery they just live with the pain or die. Will this really affect doctors? they jave private practice so they can charge what they want there. they dont have to take on high volume low income patients

For me the question is is this another PR stunt for the masses. If govt has no money how will they ever afford catastrophic care for everyone?

How many times have we had a foreign leader speak at a political rally? Unless Im mistaken this was a **very** odd happening. So why did we feel the strong need to interfere in the political system of another country? What does that do to your relations if the other party wins? Was this payback for "something" like a financial contribution? Again all of these questions may be way out in left field but this back and forth and changing stories created the breeding ground and was completely avoidable, ... which sitting world leader speaks in another country's party political rally?

This story talks about "*showing no favour*", What's the rationale for picking and choosing stories that the public can comment on? It doesn't seem to be a fair or balanced one. If there's an issue of inflammatory comments disable everything, then reading here will be just like reading on any other news site.

All of this because we want to ignore the problem with illegal Haitian immigration. I know personally a number of great people who've immigrated here from Haiti, I also know a number of great Bahamians but it doesnt stop me from recognizing the problems stemming from either community. It doesnt stop me from saying too many unqualified Bahamians are becoming parents and too many illegal Haitian immigrants are using birth in the Bahamas to undermine our national security.

Doesnt matter. You dont treat people badly because they're old. Your rationale at times is mind boggling

The FNM is apparently no better. Everybody and their cocker spaniel realize that in 2021 so decided not to vote for either of them. When the PLP said the carnival pay us 200,000 to facilitate their operation the FNM basically say ~what wrong with that? When they in is their turn and we then we in is ours

so the only stories open for comment is the one that puts Brave Davis in a bad light. Like when Nygard was open for comment but Adrian Gibson was not.
