"*made the decision personally, and I told Minister for Grand Bahama we will not allow them to stay in there based on what we were experiencing*"
So, there **was** a problem at the hotel resulting in athletes previously booked having to be given alternate accomodations.
Did anyone test the Lucayan before the athletes came? Not a walkthrough, an actual test, turning things on and off over multiple days and weeks to ensure service was reliable in addition to a check of all services against an intl standard of quality for athlete accommodations
This 90m will all be for naught. They'll have to tax again in a year to raise 180m to account for the 90m they needed originally plus the 90m they overspent when they didnt realize theyd already spent 90m.
2wks before school is set to open Alfred Sears cant give us a simple breakdown of school repair expenses that he should have known the total of from May before he issued the first contract. Poor administration. Poor governance. This allows them to continue spending then fake ignorance that the budget doubled
So I heard a reference on radio to a city being compared to a harlot, I've heard the reference for decades but never understood the comparison... until yesterday. What is a harlot. Someone who will allow anyone to commit even the basest act with her being, justifying it by the amount of money she earns. Nothing is off limits if it brings in money. And while she earns the money she gives away what could be considered priceless, she's so far gone that she doesnt realize what she's giving away most likely has lost the ability to care. What a comparison!
What I'd like to see in the future, instead of our leaders telling us we have to allow something because of the money it will make, I'd like to see them set a standard, declare our principles, the type of people and industries we want nothing to do with regardless of the money they have. Then assess every investment against the standard. We could have spared ourselves the I dont recall commission of inquiry, Nygard and Oban.
Ministerial position aside, Adrian Gibson was simply a baaaad choice. He showed early signs of arrogance with his I felt I should have been a cabinet minister statement. He had no engineering knowledge. He had no executive experience. Basically there was nothing to recommend him for such a position. "Youth" is not enough. This people money. Not only was there nothing to recommend him for the appointment, even without scandal it was disastrous. The crystal ball was clear, an inexperienced arrogant young man put over a group of highly qualified male engineers??? You are ASKING for a battle royal. Disastrous.
seems logical, but wealthy people always use other people's money to get business done
He's identified a pretty good problem to solve. Anyone can raise funds.. (i should say "many" can not anyone), but does everyone have the expertise or want to put in the work?
**this is a severe blow to the Bahamas' brand, at the least people said the hotels were nice** had no clue the plan was to put them in the rundown Lucayan hotel
This is shameful. I cant believe they put them in that hotel that noone wants to put any repair money into. what are we doing with our brand??? Sure you want to boost GB but di it when you have proper accommodation for intl guests. You know what happens now? they go away and tell everyone GB is a dump. The reverse of what you wanted and just so taxi drivers could get one meal
this is true and thats a general statement. Heard one pastor ask angrily, why people talking bad about so and so, whenever I call on him he's there. But everybody know the man in question is/was a crook and a sleaze ball
