Everybody pays VAT, even roadside vendors. And if someone is bringing in say 10 cars a years at 4000-5000 each thats 50,000-100,000 gross revenue a year. They don't pay business license.
This a easy problem. sell a good product at a good price. People would rather purchase a used car from a reputable dealer than someone out the want ads. There are many people who need good cars but cant afford or not willing to pay new car prices. That means you have volume. No need to make a 2000 profit off of one person. Your new car business should not be impacted, different customer base.
This whole saga is one big nothing. The govt is quite aware nothing will come of it. What they needed was a boogeyman to distract from their abysmal failure to move Freeport forward. Use the boogeyman to rile up supporters to make them believe the govt fighting for them and fire them up to get them to the poles for election. Thats all this is. I dont even believe they expected this to make news, if they did, they would have made it news by making some statement at a press conference (taking the GBPA to court "or else" is big news) as opposed to delivering the message to a small private group
I was initially curious why a fire had started in the forest when its been relatively cool. Can we pleeeaaase get a sensible forestry monitoring system in place to catch illegal activity before it gets out of control? Please?
That aside, from the time the fire started officials have been telling us, and even in this article, "*nothing to see, no threat to life or property*", ignore for a minute that the homeowner said the fire behind his house and people with health issues had to evacuate.
So today, Florida meteorologists release a statement that smoke plumes from the fire are affecting air quality in a part of their state. Then like a thief caught in the act, NEMA pops up with a statement that they *right on it! are are monitoring the system and people should tell them of they see danger*. What?? Why? Who in charge? Im almost betting the senior team had been advised days ago by some low level technocrat on a plan of action, advice which was likely summarily shut down.... Because thats what "*title*" and "*position*" does in this country, ignore sensible advice then rush in with fire gear when the blaze out of control... in this case, literally.
I was surprised they tested it in seawater as if it might happen....but then again what better way for a layman living on an island to "try" to disable it than by dunking in seawater
In good news, sharks appear to be effective monitors, theyll show up right on time, track to your exact location and they dont have to worry whether police vehicles are available
It's likely you believe I believe Israel was justified in this.
But I said the exact opposite. I said the military offensive never had the possibility of a good outcome. I also wholeheartedly believe men who went on a shooting and raping rampage should receive fitting punishment. Their nationality is irrelevant. As Israeli soldiers have also been accused of rape.
It's also fairy tales to believe Israel will pick up and move.
Israel was motivated by hate and the Palestinians were motivated by hate. They're both stuck on a neverending diet of hate. I dont see how this obliteration of the Gaza strip doesnt intensify the hate level among the innocent civilians. Then Israel will respond with more hate. And it never ends.
I never understood why Biden sanctioned this broad based military offensive against Gaza, it could never have ended well and was always guaranteed to kill innocent people. But who could imagine it would be on the level of 30,000 of them with no end in sight? This appears to be on the same level of planning of the Afghan pullout that predictably descended into absolute chaos. The Gazans who committed the atrocities in Israel should have been identified and targeted, it would have taken time and it would have been hard, but it would have been appropriate. this, this is barbaric potentially turning Israel into worse than the evil that triggered the response. They cant take this back. It will probably lead to the rise of a new terror out of Gaza. from a new generation fed a diet of hate. *They have hurt the heart of my daughter saying peace peace when there is no peace*"
"*Foreign Affairs Minister Fred Mitchell added: "We have a responsibility as leaders of the country to determine the future of Freeport when there is no longer that agreement and the better time to start thinking about is now."*"
