There are a number of errors, but to be fair to Mr Stubbs his value is in his sports knowledge. There are likely only a few people who could rival him on that. The grammatical and content review is really the domain of the editor (or assistant editors, I believe?). Then that opens another rabbit hole, can one editor realistically review every single article on a daily newspaper in a small population where the readership really doesnt provide adequate revenue for staffing...

You noticed.

"Sounds" like the family is being extorted. Never heard of police/authorities charging to remove a dead body from water

"*Thompson said he was “fully aware” of Norman’s Cay planned downsizing having been informed of it early last week.*"

Odd definition of "*fully*".

"*Mr Thompson said when calls are made to the impacted persons, he will further inquire about the allegations of police presence and the short period of time provided for persons to gather their belongings.*"

So... nobody who was "*fully*" informed and responsible for ethical treatment of workers asked how the staff would be offboarded?

"*Chef Osoria said he holds no ill-will towards the developer of Norman’s Cay nor are his comments “rooted in anger. It is **particularly disheartening to witness fellow Bahamians, entrusted with positions of authority, seemingly complicit in actions that disenfranchise their own people**. The recent mass lay-off under the purported leadership of the current island manager, a Bahamian national, exemplifies this troubling dynamic,” he added.*"

It's another odd phenomenon, enslavers often use people of like kind to dish out punishment to victims. The punisher is either disdainful of their own kind for not having the "whatever" to ascend to their level of achievement or is too afraid to fall into victimhood and is all to willing to dish out the abuse. We see this often in Parliament.."*if I'd said something I would have lost my own job*"...so let the people drink Rubis oil for one year or more and die of cancer.

Because"

"*the resulting fee uncertainty has lingered “for months’.*"

Apparently this gentleman and his local contact have been going back and forth to officials trying to get an answer, and after months, he could not get confirmation that the 150 outbound was only for private planes. It was only after he contacted the Tribune that a definitive statement was issued.

Seems like he was caught up in another shortsighted policy change vortex. The poor officer who's now blamed for having "incorrect information"

"*Davis called for the Caribbean to maintain digital sovereignty by investing in data storage infrastructure, regulating foreign digital actors, building platforms and working together to establish a regional framework*"

This is so ironic when the CEB was designed to hand over the industry to foreign control. And every administration falls over backward for the big players, be they foreign investors with massive resources or the few local oligarchs with tentacles around the cabinet.

I wish the speech writer was not so talented because there's nothing behind the words

**Noone should forget that the will of the people was against illegal gaming. The people did not consider it a "good" thing**

The one truth about a "good name" is, its determined by what you do **and** further defined by the people who see you do what you do. Both things are required.

Every Bahamian older than 20 years knows that Perry Christie ushered in a process to "regularize" an industry that had been operating **illegally** for **years**. As a part of the process, those illegal businesses had to be valued. And the proceeds of the years of illegal activity/crime was valued in the **millions**. The negotiations allowed those involved to retain some of the ill gotten wealth. This is history. It cannot be rewritten.

Terrorist organizations, mob bosses and drug dealers are known for their marketing campaigns. To garner support in their community, they provide food, water, money and gifts to the residents. It buys support and cover to continue their illegal activity. The recipients of the gifts are always grateful, but among the general community, everybody knows the source of the money.

**A "good name" is not what you think about yourself.**

"*Everybody is shaken up because he’s a well-known man here in Moore’s Island,” said local chief councillor Ganvia Johnson.*"

Grief doesnt care what the deceased love one did in life, but I ask the question, did everybody also know he was either dealing drugs or involved in human smuggling? Reminds me of the Binini boat captain who said to the Trubune that "everybody knew" about the human smuggling operations on the island, and anybody could get in if they wanted to.

**We have to stop giving respect and hero worship to people who gain uber wealth through illegal activity. This includes illegal gaming**. And MPs need to stop associating with them, using them in election campaigns to amass votes and as election financiers knowing the source of the funds. Every drug and every illegal immigrant smuggled for a dollar is another inch dug in your children and grandchildren's *too early* grave.
